About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Business Analysis, you are a strategic partner responsible for translating business strategy into measurable outcomes through high-quality requirements analysis, solution design, and delivery assurance in a combination of Agile and Waterfall environment.

This role goes beyond traditional requirements gathering. The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) acts as a systems thinker, trusted advisor, and quality champion, ensuring that solutions are aligned to enterprise objectives, optimized through Lean Six Sigma principles, and delivered with a high degree of confidence through requirements quality discipline and strong support for business validation and UAT activities, including the ability to lead UAT where required.

The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of business, technology, and delivery, influencing decisions, improving processes, and ensuring that business value is realized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to shape initiatives, clarify business objectives, and define measurable success criteria
  • Provide objective, data-driven insights to support decision-making, including options analysis, trade-offs, and risk assessment
  • Translate strategic goals into end-to-end business and system impacts, considering upstream/downstream dependencies and integration points
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles (e.g., DMAIC) to analyze, redesign, and optimize business processes
  • Identify and eliminate waste, inefficiencies, and process gaps, improving cycle time, quality, and customer outcomes
  • Lead the definition of high-quality, testable, and traceable requirements (user stories, business and non-functional)
  • Establish and enforce requirements quality standards, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment to business outcomes
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through to design, testing, and implementation
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, development, and QA to ensure solution integrity
  • Ensure requirements are fully validated through testing and meet acceptance criteria
  • Partner with QA and vendors in COTS/vendor-led delivery models, ensuring alignment between business needs and delivered functionality
  • Drive defect triage, prioritization, and resolution, ensuring business risk is managed
  • Operate effectively within Agile and hybrid delivery models, facilitating backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery
  • Provide clarity and context to delivery teams, ensuring alignment to business intent, not just requirements
  • Own requirements scope governance and lead the end‑to‑end change request intake, assessment, and prioritization process, ensuring alignment to business objectives, solution integrity, and delivery timelines.
  • Build strong relationships across all levels, including senior executives and operational stakeholders
  • Tailor communication to audience, ensuring alignment, transparency, and informed decision-making
  • Support change adoption by clearly articulating business value, impacts, and benefits

Key Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive Business Analysis experience in complex enterprise environments
  • University education in Computer, Data or Information Sciences, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience including increasingly responsible experience in business analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience operating as a strategic BA / advisor on large transformation initiatives
  • Proven application of Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting UAT planning, coordination, and execution
  • Strong experience working in COTS/vendor-based implementations
  • Deep understanding of requirements lifecycle management, traceability, and quality practices
  • Proven experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the delivery and practical application of related tools and techniques in a hybrid model.
  • Prior experience in the pensions industry is highly preferred.
  • The CBAP or PMI-PBA designation would be considered an asset.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills to research and identify issues, challenges, root causes and opportunities, and to propose practical solutions for improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to provide advice and guidance and present information clearly and concisely to all levels within the organization, including executives.
  • Strong client focus, including excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills to build strong relationships with client groups to coach, facilitate, consult and negotiate with internal stakeholders and peers.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous and changing environment and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • An advanced understanding of MS Excel and Visio is required. Experience with data-visualization tools/suites (such as Power BI), working knowledge of Agile coordination tools (such as Jira, Confluence and Lucid Chart), is preferred.

Compensation:

The target hiring salary for this position is $120,000. A candidate’s placement in the range is based on skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity, with consideration for how the candidate is developing, meets, or exceeds the role’s requirements . This position is eligible to participate in OPB’s Annual Incentive Program, subject to its terms and conditions.
