About the Role
Rockwoods is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer with strong, recent hands-on P&C insurance experience to build analytics datasets, reporting layers, and business-ready data solutions.
This role requires more than general data or analytics experience. The ideal candidate should understand how P&C insurance data works from a business perspective, particularly Policy, Claims, Billing, and Finance.
You should be comfortable working directly with insurance stakeholders and translating business processes into accurate data models, reporting datasets, and analytics solutions.

What You’ll Do
Build analytics datasets and reporting layers for P&C insurance.
Work directly with Policy, Claims, Billing, and Finance data.
Translate insurance business requirements into data models, reporting logic, and actionable insights.
Analyze and validate data across policy, claims, billing, and finance source systems.
Build dashboards and reporting using Tableau and/or Power BI.
Perform data mapping, testing, reconciliation, and validation to ensure reporting accuracy.
Work with business stakeholders across underwriting, claims, policy administration, billing, finance, and operations.
Identify data gaps and inconsistencies and work with technical teams to resolve them.

What You Must Bring
6–10+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or a related role.
Recent, hands-on P&C insurance experience is required.
Strong understanding of at least two of the following P&C data areas:Policy – policy lifecycle, transactions, coverage, endorsements, renewals, cancellations
Claims – claims lifecycle, reserves, payments, losses, claims status
Billing – invoices, payments, receivables, billing transactions
Finance – premium, earned/unearned premium, general ledger, financial reporting and reconciliation
Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
Experience building analytics/reporting datasets and dimensional models.
Hands-on experience with Tableau and/or Power BI.
Experience with data validation, testing, reconciliation, and data quality.
Ability to work directly with business users and understand insurance terminology and processes.

Strongly Preferred
Experience working within a P&C insurance carrier, MGA, insurance technology company, or insurance data environment.
Experience with dbt, Snowflake, or cloud data platforms.
Experience with Qlik, SSIS, or other ETL/data integration tools.
Experience supporting insurance financial or regulatory reporting.

Important Requirement
P&C insurance domain knowledge is non-negotiable. Candidates with only general analytics/data engineering experience, or candidates whose P&C experience is not recent or does not include Policy, Claims, Billing, or Finance, will not be considered.
