Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Taxation, the Analyst/Senior Analyst, Taxation will serve a critical role within the tax department of George Weston Limited, which provides corporate tax services to George Weston, Loblaw and Choice Properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the Canadian tax reporting obligations of the group and will work closely with key internal partners and fellow tax professionals at George Weston when carrying out these responsibilities. The Analyst/Senior Analyst, Taxation will be joining a dynamic and collaborative tax department, focused on talent development through engaging and industry-leading projects, peer-to-peer training, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Support the tax reporting cycle for companies within the group (including George Weston, Loblaw, and Shoppers Drug Mart) including the tax provision, tax returns, book-to-file review and tax audits.
• Assist with the preparation and data collection for foreign affiliate reporting, country by country reporting and global minimum tax reporting.
• Assist with the quarterly financial statement tax reporting process, including assisting the Manager with the preparation of the consolidated quarterly income tax provisions, financial statement notes and quarterly tax management reports as well as assisting with responses to requests from external financial statement auditors.
• Support government tax audits for assigned companies including the preparation of information to be provided to Canadian tax authorities.
• Identify and implement tax process and technology advancements.
• Keep abreast of legislative changes, recommending and assisting in the implementation of necessary changes.
• Assist on special projects and ad hoc requests, including various tax analysis, research and preparing tax memoranda.

Qualifications:

• Designated Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of tax experience.
• Income tax provision and Canadian tax compliance experience in a professional services firm and/or industry. Experience in corporate tax research is an asset.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask and see projects to completion.
• Team player with exceptional communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues to deliver results.

Hiring Range: Base salary of $75,000 - 85,000 per year, plus applicable bonus.
