- Position Summary
- The Scheduler – Relief Coverage will join a fast-paced Commercial Scheduling team supporting Client's commodities portfolio. This role is responsible for providing scheduling coverage whenever Commercial Schedulers are on planned or unplanned leave, ensuring uninterrupted logistics operations and execution of commercial commitments. The position primarily supports clean energy scheduling but may also provide coverage across other commodity scheduling teams as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial scheduling, logistics management, or value chain optimization, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, strong attention to detail, and the ability to make sound operational decisions while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Responsibilities
- Provide scheduling relief coverage for Commercial Scheduling teams on a 24/7 basis as needed, including on-call support (typically once every two weeks).
- Support scheduling desks outside the Clean Scheduling team when required.
- Perform nominations and daily scheduling activities for products including gasoline, intermediate blendstocks, ethanol, diesel, jet fuel, and transmix to meet Commercial Trading, Marketing, and operational demand requirements.
- Accurately enter and maintain scheduling and operational data in SAP, Trade66, Navarik, Mainstay, and other third-party systems.
- Coordinate with inspectors to ensure product specifications, quantity measurements, and cost-sharing requirements are met.
- Manage product specification changes across distribution systems while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Monitor logistics operations, oversee loss control activities, and communicate operational issues to key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate inventory positions and collaborate with Commercial Trading, Marketing, and Operations teams to optimize inventory levels.
- Understand and comply with domestic and international regulations related to commercial scheduling and complete required regulatory reporting.
- Participate in refinery, Supply Reliability Team (SRT), and other operational planning meetings.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, external customers, and business partners.
- Conduct scheduler desk reviews, maintain desk manuals, and recommend process improvements.
- Support resolution of inventory discrepancies, SAP book-to-book and book-to-physical reconciliation activities.
- Assist Commercial Schedulers with inventory management, reporting requests, discrepancy resolution, and other scheduling activities when not providing desk coverage.
- Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics management, commercial operations, value chain optimization, or commercial activity support.
- Ability to work onsite in the Houston office five (5) days per week.
- Ability to work standard business hours (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Willingness to work occasional overtime (approximately five hours per week) and participate in an on-call rotation (typically once every two weeks).
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and operational reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of commercial scheduling experience.
- Working knowledge of marine, pipeline, rail, and truck transportation operations.
- Understanding of downstream operations, supply chain processes, and commercial value drivers.
- Experience working with SAP and commercial scheduling systems such as Trade66, Navarik, Mainstay, or similar transportation and scheduling platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- High ethical standards, strong personal accountability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
