- Job Summary
- The main function of a Risk Analyst is to analyze and manage risk management issues by identifying, measuring, and making decisions on operational or enterprise risks for an organization. A typical Risk Analyst utilizes knowledge of tax and insurance strategies, securities, insurance, pension plans, and real estate.
This role supports Project Tempo, a CIBC initiative established in FY25 to enhance the regulatory governance environment by assessing all regulatory requirements and ensuring they are linked with controls. Where gaps were identified, new controls were created for complying with the requirements. Beginning in FY26, CIBC is now focused on evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of these newly created or identified regulatory controls. CIBC hired an external audit firm (PwC) to perform control testing, while CIBC is responsible for quality assurance (QA) and coordination between business partners and PwC.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a background in regulatory compliance, internal controls, or audit — ideally within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, as this role requires frequent coordination with both external auditors and internal business partners. An analytical mindset and keen attention to detail are critical for reviewing documentation and testing results. Familiarity with control testing methodologies and regulatory requirements is highly valued.
