- Role Description
- Manhattan Pain Medicine is seeking a full-time Revenue Cycle Data Analyst with strong hands-on medical billing experience, particularly in out-of-network billing.
- This role is ideal for someone who understands medical billing operations from direct experience and can use data to identify trends, uncover revenue opportunities, improve collections, reduce denials, and strengthen overall revenue cycle performance.
- This is not a general data analyst position. The ideal candidate must have practical experience working with medical billing data, claims, payer follow-up, out-of-network reimbursement, denials, appeals, AR reports, collections data, and payment posting workflows.
- The Revenue Cycle Data Analyst will work closely with leadership and billing operations to analyze performance, build reports, monitor KPIs, review reimbursement patterns, and provide clear, actionable insights that support stronger billing outcomes.
- Key Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue cycle performance across billing, claim submission, payment posting, AR follow-up, denials, appeals, collections, and reimbursement workflows.
- Review out-of-network billing data, including claim status, payer behavior, reimbursement trends, underpayments, appeals, collections performance, and aging AR.
- Build and maintain reports, dashboards, scorecards, and KPI tracking tools for leadership and billing operations.
- Identify billing trends, denial patterns, payer delays, workflow gaps, underpayments, and missed revenue opportunities.
- Translate billing data into clear operational recommendations that improve collections, reduce denials, and increase reimbursement.
- Work directly with billing staff to validate data, understand workflow issues, and support process improvement.
- Monitor claim aging, denial volume, appeal outcomes, reimbursement timelines, payment posting accuracy, and collections performance.
- Support payer analysis, reimbursement review, audit preparation, and billing performance reporting.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve reporting structure, billing workflows, documentation, accountability, and internal communication.
- Use data to support more efficient, accurate, and compliant revenue cycle operations.
- Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing, revenue cycle, or healthcare billing operations experience.
- Hands-on experience with out-of-network billing, claims processing, payer follow-up, denials, appeals, collections, AR management, and reimbursement workflows.
- Strong ability to analyze billing data, identify trends, and explain findings clearly.
- Experience working with AR reports, denial reports, payment posting data, claim aging, collections reports, payer trends, and productivity metrics.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data cleaning, reporting, and trend analysis.
- Understanding of medical billing operations, coding, insurance verification, claim follow-up, payer communication, payment posting, and reimbursement processes.
- Ability to work closely with billing teams and leadership to investigate issues and improve workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple reports, projects, and follow-up items with accuracy and accountability.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pain management billing.
- Experience in rheumatology billing.
- Experience with out-of-network reimbursement analysis.
- Experience in a high-volume specialty practice or multi-specialty billing environment.
- Experience creating dashboards, scorecards, KPI reports, and billing performance summaries.
- Familiarity with practice management systems, medical billing platforms, and healthcare reporting tools.
- Experience improving billing workflows, reducing denials, increasing collections, and strengthening AR performance.
- Work Arrangement
- Full-time role.
- Hybrid position based in New York, NY.
- Remote flexibility available for part of the time.
