Job Description:
Position Overview: Are you a researcher at heart who loves to get beyond ‘findings’ to actionable insights? Are you a selfstarter who’s comfortable balancing independent, remote work and enthusiastic collaboration with colleagues? Do you have a knack for bringing your research insights to life—visually and verbally—for those who will need to act on them? Are you passionate about helping arts and culture organizations thrive in a changing and challenging environment? The Research Analyst will be responsible for independently managing a portfolio of quantitative and qualitative projects commissioned by arts executives across the globe. The role requires the individual to process and manage complex projects, conduct interviews with senior arts executives, analyze datasets, and distill actionable insights. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can independently execute multiple projects, communicate effectively with arts and culture leaders, and collaborate with peer researchers to create value for ABA members. Research Analysts operate in a fast-paced, for-profit, start-up environment, with a fully virtual team based across the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Survey Analysis
- - Contribute to the design of quantitative research projects, including developing research questions, designing surveys, identifying appropriate samples, and supporting data collection efforts
- Analyze survey, administrative, and other quantitative datasets to identify meaningful patterns, trends, and actionable insights for leaders at arts and cultural organizations
- Clean, validate, transform, and organize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Build standardized data reports and benchmarks for members, using clear, intuitive, and visually compelling graphics
- Build interactive data dashboards using tools such as Looker Studio and Power BI to communicate quantitative insights
- Translate data findings into concise, compelling narratives that clearly communicate the implications and recommended actions for busy executives
- Qualitative Research
- Develop interview guides, research questions, and call lists for interviews with arts and culture executives
- Conduct in-depth qualitative interviews with arts and cultural leaders, practitioners, and industry experts
- Translate interview and research insights into concise, compelling narratives with clear recommendations and next steps for executives and their teams
- Conduct thorough, creative, and rigorous secondary research using a range of sources
- Synthesize qualitative findings to develop a nuanced understanding of issues facing arts and cultural organizations
- Distill complex research into clear, compelling insights, with a particular focus on what busy executives should do with the insights
- Assess business challenges and identify actionable, outcome-driven insights
- General
- Support key research deliverables—including case studies, webinars, presentations, workshops and roundtables—with rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Communicate and present analytical findings to internal partners and, as appropriate, external audiences
- Coordinate and participate in scoping conversations and interviews with arts leaders and industry experts to inform the development and interpretation of surveys and research studies
- Develop project workplans to meet client needs and timelines, and communicate regularly with clients to share updates and deliver expected outputs
- Manage multiple research projects and deadlines while maintaining high standards for analytical rigor, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Partner with research team members and internal stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes to clients
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of work experience in business research, data analytics, arts administration or related fields
- An undergraduate degree with studies in quantitative fields, social sciences, or arts administration
- Superior project management and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications, including visualization of insights
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable, collaborative and a cross-cultural team player
- Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel. (e.g., pivot tables)
- Highly proficient with standard survey instruments (e.g., Survey Monkey)
- Knowledge of visualization tools such as Power BI and Looker Studio preferred
- A strong personal interest in arts and culture organizations
- Salary: $45,000-$55,000 commensurate with experience Benefits:
