  • About the Opportunity
  • Our client is a well-established engineering and consulting firm known for delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure solutions to some of the largest technology and data center operators in the world. With decades of experience behind them, the firm has built a reputation for technical rigor, reliability, and long-term client partnerships across hyperscale and enterprise-scale facility projects. This is a fully remote, senior-level opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who wants to take on real ownership of complex projects while helping shape how the firm designs and delivers critical infrastructure nationwide.
  • The Role
  • This position sits within the firm's mission critical practice, which is centered on hyperscale data centers and related critical-facility work. You'll take the lead on mechanical design across the full project lifecycle, act as a primary point of contact for key clients, and help set the technical direction for the broader engineering team. It's a role built for someone who can operate independently, guide junior staff, and bring both deep technical know-how and big-picture judgment to complex, fast-moving projects.

What You'll Do

  • Mechanical Design Leadership
  • • Own advanced mechanical engineering and design work on complex projects, systems, and components
  • • Run load calculations, energy modeling, and other computational analysis independently
  • • Produce and review drawings and design visuals in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • • Write and review both book-form and sheet-based specifications
  • • Develop and evaluate HVAC control sequences of operation
  • • Build out proposals, including scope, schedule, and budget
  • • Manage and coordinate the design team's workload, staffing, and resourcing on assigned projects
  • • Flag potential scope changes early and help develop strategies to keep cost and schedule on track
  • • Conduct QA/QC peer reviews on projects led by other engineers
  • Construction Phase Involvement
  • • Assess existing building conditions and document findings in technical reports
  • • Gather field data to support construction documentation
  • • Develop project design, specification, and construction documents
  • • Direct the engineering team's day-to-day coordination with the project management side
  • • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
  • • Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, and change order review/approval
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
  • • Serve as the primary contact for one or more key client accounts, upholding the firm's client-service standards
  • • Potentially take on a client program management role with business development responsibilities • Contribute to technical papers or conference submissions as opportunities arise
  • Team Development & Continuous Improvement
  • • Mentor other engineers and support their training and growth
  • • Help shape internal training programs and technical standards
  • • Contribute to strategic planning for the group and, at times, support hiring efforts
  • • Champion smart use of digital tools and AI-enabled workflows to cut down manual effort and improve accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and QA
  • • Support the rollout of new technology platforms (analytics, data visualization, digital construction management tools) in a way that aligns with the firm's data security and privacy standards

What You Bring

  • • Strong grounding in mechanical system design, applicable codes, and specification writing
  • • Working knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, plus solid MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • • Hands-on experience with load calculations, energy simulation, and system hydronics
  • • Ability to select HVAC equipment across the board and build out hydronic flow diagrams with appropriate piping accessories
  • • Comfort reviewing and selecting DDC controls and fire alarm/protection devices, defining points lists, and writing detailed sequences of operation
  • • A track record of managing client relationships directly, including as a primary point of contact
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
  • • Comfort working independently in a remote setting, with the self-motivation and organization that requires
  • • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • • Professional Engineer (PE) license in a related discipline
