Selby Jennings has partnered with a leading opportunistic investment platform seeking to add an analyst or senior analyst to its investment team in Dallas. The firm manages over $1 billion in assets and is actively deploying capital from its current flagship fund. With a flexible investment mandate spanning multiple asset classes and positions throughout the capital stack, the role offers exposure well beyond a traditional real estate private equity platform.
The real estate strategy focuses on opportunistic and value-add investments across a variety of property types, including hospitality, multifamily, and build-to-rent. The platform maintains significant capital available for deployment and provides investment professionals with substantial responsibility and direct exposure to senior leadership, investment committee discussions, and portfolio company initiatives.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and underwrite prospective investment opportunities across a broad range of real estate asset classes
Build and maintain complex financial models, including acquisition, development, and operating cash flow analyses
Support the development of new investment themes and strategic investment initiatives
Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and analytical materials for internal investment committee meetings and external investor communications
Participate in all aspects of transaction execution, including due diligence, third-party consultant management, financing processes, and closing activities
Analyze and monitor portfolio performance through review of budgets, operating plans, capital expenditure programs, and financial reporting
Work closely with operating partners and management teams to evaluate and execute strategic, operational, and financial initiatives
Assist with ongoing asset management and portfolio monitoring efforts
Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, lenders, investors, consultants, operating partners, and other market participants
Qualifications
1 - 2 years of relevant experience within real estate private equity, real estate investment banking, real estate investment management, acquisitions, development, or related principal investing environments
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities
Demonstrated ability to evaluate investment opportunities and synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to work within a lean, highly collaborative investment team
