- Position Summary
- The Purchasing Assistant sits at the center of a high-volume, data-driven purchasing operation. This role goes beyond processing orders, you will be analyzing data to support purchasing decisions, forecast product needs, calculate shipping and capacity optimization, and investigate the trends and errors behind the numbers.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who wants to learn the wholesale distribution and manufacturing business and grow with the company over time.
- Key Responsibilities
- Process and review high volumes of purchasing data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Execute multi-step purchasing and ordering processes while learning the business behind them.
- Enter, verify, and maintain purchase orders, product information, and pricing within the ERP system.
- Proactively communicate with customers regarding order status, delivery timelines, backorders, and changes.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to confirm availability, pricing, and shipment schedules.
- Track open orders and ensure commitments are met.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve or escalate issues appropriately.
- Take on increasing responsibility as product knowledge and skills develop.
- What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into action.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-step workflows and processes with accuracy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer- and vendor-facing interactions.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated desire to grow in responsibility, scope, and technical skill.
- ERP system experience strongly preferred.
