- Job Title: Project Manager – Brownfield Data Center Expansion
- Location: Project-Based with Remote Flexibility
- Reports To: Project Executive
- Travel: 80%+, depending on project phase

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of a complex brownfield data center expansion/upgrade project. This role focuses on delivering critical infrastructure improvements within an active, operational data center environment while minimizing disruption to ongoing client operations.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise managing brownfield construction projects in live mission-critical facilities. You will coordinate intricate retrofit work, phased construction, and seamless integration with existing systems, serving as a key liaison between the owner’s representatives, operational teams, design-build partners, and executive stakeholders.
- Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership
- Manage all phases of the brownfield project lifecycle, including design, preconstruction, phased construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets tailored to brownfield constraints and operational requirements.
- Act as the central point of contact for owner’s representatives, facility operations teams, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Brownfield & Phased Execution
- Lead coordination of construction activities in live data hall environments with strict emphasis on minimizing downtime and maintaining operational continuity.
- Oversee retrofit and upgrade scopes including MEP system modifications, infrastructure expansions, and integration with legacy systems.
- Manage phased construction sequencing, temporary protections, and risk mitigation strategies specific to operating facilities.
- Design-Build Integration & Coordination
- Oversee design-build partners to ensure constructability, technical compliance, and alignment with existing facility standards.
- Collaborate on site planning, MEP upgrades, structural modifications, and critical systems integration while respecting live operations.
- Review design deliverables and support value engineering within the constraints of brownfield conditions.
- Stakeholder & Risk Management
- Provide regular progress updates, risk assessments, and financial reporting to executive leadership and the client.
- Manage change orders, scope adjustments, and coordination with ongoing facility operations.
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, safety, and operational impact.
- Project Controls
- Monitor schedule, budget, cost forecasts, and resource allocation using industry-standard tools.
- Lead project meetings, coordination reviews, and site walkthroughs with construction, design, operations, and client teams.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction project management experience with a strong focus on brownfield or renovation/expansion projects in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
- Proven success delivering projects in live operational environments with minimal business interruption.
- Deep understanding of MEP systems, phased construction, shutdown planning, and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Experience working as an owner’s representative or in close partnership with facility operations teams.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and BIM tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in complex, multi-stakeholder settings.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Prior experience on hyperscale or large-scale brownfield data center projects.
- PMP certification or equivalent.
- OSHA 30 and familiarity with high-risk construction safety protocols.
