- Principal Consultant Data & AI
- A senior consulting role for someone who can move comfortably between customer strategy, solution architecture, delivery leadership, and developing people.
- Location: North America (US / Canada) | Remote/Hybrid
- Reports to: Delivery Leadership
- Travel: As client needs require
- The Role
- Data Crafters is looking for an experienced Principal Consultant to help customers define and deliver modern data, analytics, and AI solutions, primarily across the Microsoft ecosystem. You will work directly with customer leaders, guide delivery teams, support new opportunities, and help strengthen the way we deliver as a practice.
- This is not an individual-contributor role with a senior title. We are looking for someone who can shape the work, earn trust, make sound technical decisions, and help a team deliver successfully.
- What You'll Do
- Lead customer engagements
- Run discovery and strategy conversations, translate business needs into practical roadmaps, and serve as a trusted advisor to business and technical stakeholders.
- Guide architecture and delivery
- Provide technical direction across Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, data engineering, analytics, and AI. Stay involved from solutioning and estimation through go-live and stabilization.
- Develop people
- Manage and mentor consultants, engineers, and technical leads. Support staffing, coaching, capability development, and a culture of accountability and learning.
- Help grow the practice
- Support proposals, RFPs, Statements of Work, demonstrations, and Proofs of Concept. Identify ways to expand customer value and contribute reusable patterns, standards, and accelerators.
- What You Bring
- · 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, cloud, business intelligence, data engineering, AI, or technology consulting.
- · A strong record of architecting and delivering enterprise data solutions in customer-facing environments.
- · Deep experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, SQL, modern data architecture, and data engineering practices.
- · Practical knowledge of security, governance, data quality, CI/CD, and production operations.
- · Experience leading technical professionals and distributed delivery teams.
- · Strong executive communication, consulting, presentation, estimation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- · The ability to balance technical quality with customer priorities, delivery constraints, and commercial realities.
- Useful, but Not Essential
- Experience with Generative AI, Azure OpenAI, AI Agents, RAG, Databricks, Snowflake, Python, Spark, or Microsoft Purview is valuable. Relevant Microsoft certifications and experience leading global delivery teams are also welcomed.
- Who You Are
- You are equally comfortable facilitating an executive strategy session, reviewing an architecture, helping a delivery team work through a difficult decision, or coaching a consultant early in their career.
- You understand the customer before recommending technology. You take ownership of outcomes, communicate directly, and build trust through sound judgment and follow-through.
- How We Work
- At Data Crafters, technical excellence is the baseline. We lead with authenticity, stay curious, and work in partnership with our customers and each other. Principal Consultants are expected to help win the work, shape the solution, lead the team, and deliver with excellence.
- About Data Crafters
- Data Crafters is a Microsoft-focused consulting firm specializing in Data, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Application Modernization, and Managed Services. We help organizations turn complex data into actionable insight and measurable business value through tailored, end-to-end solutions.
