  • Job Overview:
  • John Deere is seeking an Agronomy Data Analyst / Precision Agriculture Data Specialist to support the Global Agronomy & AV&V / Marketing & Agronomic R&D team. This role combines agronomy, precision agriculture, geospatial analytics, and data science to analyze field-trial and connected-machinery data and demonstrate the agronomic and financial value of John Deere technologies.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze agricultural datasets from field trials, customer farms, university research, planters, sprayers, and combines.
  • Extract and process raw data from databases and develop analytical scripts independently using R and/or Databricks.
  • Perform statistical and geospatial analysis on soil, yield, equipment-operation, and field-trial datasets.
  • Work with agricultural spatial data using ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
  • Analyze machinery data such as planter performance, downforce, singulation, sprayer applications, yield maps, and harvest files.
  • Translate complex analytical results into clear business and agronomic insights.
  • Create executive-ready one-page PDF summaries and PowerPoint presentations for leadership, dealers, university partners, and growers.
  • Collaborate with engineers, agronomists, field trial specialists, dealers, and customers.
  • Evaluate data from a grower/dealer perspective and identify practical operational and financial value.
  • Must-Haves
  • Agronomy + Analytics: Practical agricultural/precision-ag experience with soil, yield, equipment, or field-trial data.
  • Coding & Data Analytics: Ability to independently write scripts and perform data manipulation/statistical analysis using R and/or Databricks.
  • GIS: Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro or QGIS and agricultural spatial datasets.
  • Understanding of real-world farming practices and crop production.
  • Strong ability to create PowerPoint presentations and one-page executive summaries from complex data.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical agricultural audiences.

  • Education & Experience
  • Master’s preferred in Agronomy, Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Geospatial Science, Agricultural Data Science, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s accepted with strong relevant industry/field experience.
  • Typically 2–5+ years of relevant industry, field-trial, precision-ag, or applied agricultural research experience.
  • Seed-company, crop-input, ag-equipment, precision-ag, or agricultural technology internships/co-ops may count as relevant experience.
