Optomi is seeking an experienced Power BI Administrator to take ownership of an enterprise Microsoft Power BI environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and optimized while driving governance, workspace management, tenant administration, and best practices across the organization's Business Intelligence ecosystem.

Position Summary:

The Power BI Administrator will be responsible for administering and optimizing the enterprise Microsoft Power BI platform, ensuring stability, security, governance, and performance across all reporting environments. This role will focus on Power BI tenant administration, workspace governance, security architecture, source control, infrastructure management, and technical support for business intelligence teams and report developers.

  • 3–5+ years of professional IT experience
  • 2+ years of dedicated enterprise Microsoft Power BI or Microsoft Fabric administration experience
  • Experience administering Power BI tenants, workspaces, capacities, and governance policies
  • Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) security groups, permissions, and identity management
  • Experience administering On-Premises Data Gateways and enterprise data connectivity
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and Power BI REST APIs for automation
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control and change management practices
  • Experience supporting enterprise BI environments and collaborating with report developers and business stakeholders

Responsibilites of the right candidate:

  • Administer and maintain the enterprise Microsoft Power BI tenant, ensuring platform stability, scalability, and security
  • Define and enforce enterprise workspace governance, lifecycle management, naming standards, and provisioning processes
  • Manage workspace permissions, security roles, and access controls while integrating with Microsoft Entra ID security groups
  • Conduct regular audits of workspace inventories, permissions, and tenant activity to ensure compliance and eliminate unauthorized access
  • Design and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and data protection policies across shared datasets
  • Configure and support Microsoft Purview information protection, sensitivity labels, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot On-Premises Data Gateways and support cloud-to-on-premises connectivity
  • Partner with database administrators and infrastructure teams to optimize refresh schedules and resolve connectivity or performance issues
  • Develop administrative automation using PowerShell, REST APIs, and service principals to improve operational efficiency
  • Monitor tenant health, platform usage, activity logs, and performance metrics while proactively identifying optimization opportunities
  • Troubleshoot complex Power BI issues including refresh failures, semantic model performance, DAX optimization, and Power Query transformations
  • Establish Git repository standards, branching strategies, source control processes, and deployment best practices for Power BI assets
  • Support CI/CD processes and promote Power BI Project (PBIP) adoption across development teams
  • Create documentation, standards, governance policies, and operational runbooks while contributing to a Power BI Center of Excellence
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to BI developers on workspace architecture, semantic models, security, and reporting best practices
