  • Position Overview
  • A prominent Family Office based in Houston is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to join its investment team. This individual will support the management of a diversified public markets portfolio, working closely with senior investment professionals across investment research, portfolio construction, trading activities, performance analysis, and risk monitoring.
  • The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience within investment management, equity research, asset management, a family office, hedge fund, endowment, foundation, or institutional investment platform. This role offers significant exposure to investment decision-making and portfolio management across multiple asset classes.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fundamental investment research and analysis on public equities, ETFs, fixed income securities, and alternative investment opportunities.
  • Support portfolio managers in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment strategy implementation.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and prepare detailed performance attribution reports.
  • Analyze market trends, economic developments, and company-specific catalysts impacting portfolio holdings.
  • Assist with trade execution and portfolio rebalancing activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, valuation analyses, and investment research reports.
  • Track portfolio exposures, concentration risks, and investment performance metrics.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, market commentary, and portfolio reviews.
  • Conduct due diligence on external investment managers, funds, and investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with custodians, brokers, and investment service providers to ensure accurate portfolio reporting and transaction processing.
  • Support ongoing investment operations and special projects as required.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, portfolio management, trading, asset management, family office investing, hedge funds, private wealth management, or institutional investing.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, portfolio management principles, and investment analysis.
  • Experience building financial models and performing fundamental company analysis.
  • Knowledge of portfolio analytics, performance attribution, and risk management concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, Morningstar Direct, or similar investment platforms preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior investment professionals.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Preferred Background
  • Equity research experience covering public companies and investment opportunities.
  • Experience supporting institutional or high-net-worth investment portfolios.
  • Exposure to trading and portfolio implementation processes.
  • Familiarity with multi-asset class portfolios, including equities, fixed income, and alternative investments.
  • Progress toward or completion of the CFA designation is highly desirable.
