The Master Data Management (MDM) Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and governance of critical master data across the organization. This role supports item, vendor, pricing, location, and customer data used across merchandising, supply chain, store operations, marketing, e-commerce, and finance. The MDM Analyst works closely with business stakeholders to maintain data quality, enforce standards, and support efficient retail operations.

This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days per week and the rest remote. This position is eligible to sit in the Chicago/Rosemont, IL or West Linn, OR locations.

The role operates in a fast-paced food retail environment, where data accuracy directly impacts pricing, promotions, inventory availability, food safety, and customer trust. Primarily an office-based or hybrid position, with regular collaboration across IT, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Store Operations, Marketing and E-commerce teams. Work involves detailed data analysis and validation, requiring sustained focus, accuracy, and adherence to governance standards. Occasional collaboration with external vendors, suppliers, and third-party data providers to resolve data issues and ensure alignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, validate, and maintain master data for items (SKUs), vendors, stores, pricing, promotions, and hierarchies.
  • Maintain vendor and item relationships to support procurement, replenishment, and invoicing.
  • Enforce data governance standards, naming conventions, and business rules.
  • Perform data quality checks to identify and resolve inaccuracies, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
  • Partner with data governance teams to define policies and stewardship processes.
  • Support audits and compliance requirements related to food labeling, traceability, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Store Operations, Marketing and E-commerce teams to understand data needs.
  • Support new item setup, assortment changes, seasonal items, and promotional launches.
  • Act as a data steward for assigned data domains.
  • Work within ERP, MDM, PIM, and merchandising systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder, or similar)
  • Support system integrations and data synchronization across platforms.
  • Assist with testing during system upgrades, enhancements, or new data initiatives.
  • Monitor master data KPIs and data quality metrics.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Document procedures, workflows, and data standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Relationships:

  • Internal: Interact with all levels of associates within the CHEF’STORE.
  • External: The incumbent is required to interact with customers and other service and product providers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in master data, data governance, or retail data operations
  • Experience supporting item and vendor data in a retail or consumer goods environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Proficiency with Excel and data analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in food, grocery, or multi-category retail, including exposure to fresh, frozen, or perishable product data.
  • Working knowledge of food-specific regulatory and compliance requirements, such as nutritional labeling, ingredient declarations, allergen tracking, country of origin, and traceability standards
  • Hands-on experience with Master Data Management (MDM), Product Information Management (PIM), or ERP platforms commonly used in retail environments (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, Informatica, Stibo Systems, Syndigo, or similar tools)
  • Familiarity with retail merchandising and supply chain processes, including item lifecycle management, assortment planning, replenishment, pricing, promotions, and vendor onboarding.
  • Experience supporting omnichannel retail operations, including store, e-commerce, click-and-carry, and delivery channels.
  • Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into data standards, attributes, and workflows.
  • Experience with data quality tools, validation rules, and exception management processes
  • Working knowledge of SQL, data querying, or data transformation tools to support data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to system integrations and data flows between merchandising, supply chain, finance, and digital commerce systems
  • Experience participating in system implementations, upgrades, or data migration initiatives.
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks, stewardship models, and change management practices.
  • Strong documentation skills, including creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data dictionaries.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between

$65,000 - $105,000
