About The Role

Are you passionate about advancing artificial intelligence and leading innovative projects in a collaborative environment? LexisNexis is seeking a skilled Machine Learning Engineer Lead to spearhead the design, development, and management of scalable AI and machine learning systems. This role involves working on next-generation legal research and analytics products, integrating deep ML expertise with distributed systems engineering to create robust AI platforms. As a hands-on leader, you will oversee a talented team of 4-5 ML engineers, make strategic platform decisions, and ensure the deployment of enterprise-grade, reliable, and ethically responsible AI solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess 8-10 years of experience in machine learning and software engineering, with a proven track record in deploying AI solutions at scale. A minimum of 2-3 years in people management is required, demonstrating your ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. A master's or bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong background in software engineering, system design, and architecture, particularly in building AI features and products that handle large volumes of unstructured data and serve extensive user bases. Experience with deploying ML models into production environments and ensuring their operational stability is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 4-5 machine learning engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide architectural guidance and code-level mentorship to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Establish and promote best practices for ML system design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Conduct design reviews, performance assessments, and contribute to the technical roadmap planning process.
  • Architect distributed machine learning systems supporting multiple global products, ensuring robustness and scalability.
  • Standardize infrastructure patterns for large language model (LLM) serving and retrieval systems to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Define and implement enterprise-ready agentic frameworks that facilitate advanced AI capabilities.
  • Design multi-step reasoning systems, balancing deterministic workflows with autonomous agent strategies.
  • Implement safety guardrails, traceability mechanisms, and safety layers to ensure responsible AI deployment.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks to measure reasoning accuracy, hallucination rates, and system reliability.
  • Establish CI/CD standards for the entire ML lifecycle, from development to deployment and monitoring.
  • Ensure all AI solutions comply with enterprise data governance policies and responsible AI standards.
