About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join Moody's dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable back-end systems that support advanced insurance analytics products. Your work will directly impact the company's ability to deliver high-performance solutions that help clients navigate complex risk landscapes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in back-end development, proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL, and a solid understanding of software architecture principles. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with at least 7 years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years, or a PhD with 2+ years of experience.
• Expertise in Python and SQL, along with familiarity with scripting languages such as Ruby, and a demonstrated understanding of scalable software architecture.
• Hands-on experience with artificial intelligence concepts, including deploying AI tools to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.
• Proven ability to develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable back-end solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate abstract requirements into clear technical objectives independently.
• Adaptability to learn new programming languages, tools, and technologies rapidly and apply them effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable back-end software solutions that underpin Moody's insurance analytics products and services.
• Build and maintain robust, high-performance back-end systems that support complex analytics applications.
• Develop, extend, and optimize back-end services and web applications with a focus on architecture, scalability, and system reliability.
• Participate in technical design discussions, providing expert insights into the back-end technology stack.
• Conduct code reviews and perform technical analysis to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests to ensure system performance, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and machine learning teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging tools and technologies, offering recommendations to improve the back-end infrastructure continually.
• Own critical components of the back-end architecture, demonstrating strong technical judgment and collaborative skills to deliver impactful solutions.
