About The Role

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer within the AI Squad at GrabJobs, you will play a pivotal role in developing advanced AI solutions aimed at combating vehicle and content theft. Reporting directly to the Director of AI Engineering, this high-impact position offers the opportunity to shape our AI roadmap, mentor junior engineers, and influence system architecture decisions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robust machine learning models tailored to real-world security applications, with a focus on perception systems involving RADAR, camera, or LiDAR technologies. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities to drive innovation and ensure the success of our security solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience developing and implementing machine learning solutions for perception systems, with expertise in RADAR, camera, or LiDAR technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, with extensive experience using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Proven track record of developing production-grade machine learning applications for training, evaluation, and inference on large-scale datasets.
• Experience creating C/C++ applications utilizing modern language features and build systems, especially for porting ML inference applications to edge devices or embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of classical machine learning algorithms (SVMs, HMMs, Decision Trees) and modern neural network architectures (CNNs, transformers), with practical experience applying them to perception systems.
• Experience in implementing dynamic object tracking and sensor fusion techniques.
• Proficiency in Unix-based environments (Linux, macOS), including working with remote servers, clusters, and virtual machines.
• Knowledge of signal processing techniques such as Fourier Transform, filtering, and noise reduction.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy robust machine learning models for real-time security applications, ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
• Manage the full machine learning lifecycle, including problem definition, data pipeline design, model training, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Establish and refine best practices for ML system architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and reproducible research methodologies to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data engineers, and MLOps specialists, to facilitate seamless model integration and delivery.
• Perform advanced exploratory data analysis on large-scale sensory datasets (images, audio, radar, accelerometers) to derive actionable insights and inform modeling strategies.
• Stay current with industry advancements in machine learning, AI sensing, and signal processing, integrating innovative techniques into Canopy’s technology stack.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and contribute to hiring efforts to build a high-performing AI team.
