  • We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Lead Business Analyst to support the design, enhancement, and validation of automated market surveillance systems used to identify potential violations of regulatory rules and market conduct requirements.
  • In this role, you will serve as the critical link between regulatory requirements, business stakeholders, and technical development teams. You will analyze complex surveillance patterns, validate data outputs, investigate anomalies, and ensure surveillance logic is accurate, complete, and defensible. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of financial markets, data analytics, regulatory compliance, and emerging AI technologies.
  • The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis skills with hands-on technical expertise in SQL, Python, and large-scale data analysis, while maintaining a deep curiosity about market structure, surveillance methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Key ResponsibilitiesSurveillance Analysis & Validation
  • Analyze, document, and enhance automated surveillance patterns used to detect potential market misconduct and regulatory violations.
  • Validate surveillance outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory defensibility.
  • Investigate data discrepancies, exceptions, and system behaviors to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Evaluate surveillance effectiveness across multiple asset classes and regulatory domains.
  • Business & Technical Analysis
  • Translate regulatory requirements and business objectives into detailed business requirements and functional specifications.
  • Review and interpret complex data processing logic, source code, and technical implementations to ensure alignment with business intent.
  • Reverse-engineer existing surveillance patterns and workflows to develop comprehensive documentation and knowledge artifacts.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve surveillance logic, data quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Data Analytics & Automation
  • Perform large-scale data analysis using SQL and distributed query platforms.
  • Develop Python-based scripts and tools to automate analysis, validation, reconciliation, and reporting activities.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), production validation, and release readiness activities.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and business intelligence outputs that communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • AI-Enabled Productivity
  • Leverage generative AI tools, large language models (LLMs), and AI coding assistants to accelerate analysis, documentation, code comprehension, and workflow automation.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs to ensure regulatory accuracy, completeness, and business relevance.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI-driven efficiencies into surveillance and analytical processes.
  • Documentation & Stakeholder Communication
  • Produce clear, comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process documentation, and knowledge repositories.
  • Present analytical findings, recommendations, and surveillance insights to business leaders, technology teams, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on surveillance methodologies and business processes.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in financial regulatory technology, market surveillance, capital markets, or data analysis environments.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for large-scale data analysis and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with Python for analytics, automation, and tool development.
  • Ability to independently investigate data quality issues, reconcile results, and validate complex system outputs.
  • Experience interpreting business logic and technical implementations from source code and data processing pipelines.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and analytical modeling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience authoring BRDs, process documentation, and technical knowledge articles.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and regulatory accuracy.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. financial markets, market structure, and securities trading workflows.
  • Experience with SEC, Client, or other financial regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with market data involving equities, ETFs, options, or related asset classes.
  • Experience leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts and managing project documentation.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration platforms and their APIs.
  • Knowledge of surveillance architectures including exception generation, scoring, aggregation, reconciliation, and alert management.
  • Experience working with distributed query engines, big data platforms, and large-scale data environments.
  • Familiarity with source code management, version control, and release branch workflows.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and validating AI-generated outputs in regulated environments.
