Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Writer role based at CSIR-CSIO in Chandigarh, India. The Writer will develop clear, accurate, and engaging content related to CSIR-CSIO’s research, instrumentation projects, and technological initiatives, including articles, reports, technical summaries, web content, and outreach materials. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with scientists and engineers to translate complex technical information into accessible language, drafting and editing research highlights, project briefs, and institutional publications. The role also involves preparing content for digital platforms, internal communications, and funding or collaboration proposals, while ensuring consistency in style, tone, and branding. The Writer will maintain high editorial standards, adhere to organizational guidelines, and meet publication deadlines.
Qualifications
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to present complex scientific and technical concepts in clear, concise, and accessible language.
Experience in technical or scientific communication, such as drafting research summaries, reports, articles, or science outreach materials.
Proficiency in web and digital content creation, including writing for websites, newsletters, and social media in a structured and audience-focused manner.
Solid research and information-gathering skills to accurately interpret technical documents, interviews, and data for content development.
Attention to detail, including grammar, structure, and factual accuracy, and ability to work to editorial standards and timelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Science Communication, or a relevant scientific/engineering discipline.
Familiarity with laboratory or R&D environments, and an interest in scientific instruments and emerging technologies is highly beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and maintain organized documentation of content and revisions.
