- About the Role
- Sentara Health is seeking an experienced IT Specialty Analyst to provide day-to-day support, optimization, testing, and enhancement of critical software applications.
- This fully remote position focuses on analyzing business and clinical requirements, evaluating application releases and new products, optimizing workflows, and supporting application integration. The IT Specialty Analyst will work closely with end users and cross-functional teams to ensure applications effectively meet business and clinical needs.
- The role also supports software upgrades, patches, incident and change management, system testing, application-related service requests, and daily customer support. The successful candidate will bring strong application knowledge, analytical skills, healthcare technology experience, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across technical and business teams.
- Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support and optimization for assigned software applications.
- Perform application builds, upgrades, enhancements, and configuration activities.
- Analyze business and clinical requirements to identify functional and technical needs.
- Evaluate software releases and new products and provide recommendations to improve processes and reduce operational expenses.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of business, clinical, and application workflows to optimize system utilization.
- Conduct and document workflow assessments to determine functional requirements.
- Develop system test plans for software upgrades, patches, enhancements, and releases.
- Execute application testing and maintain accurate records of testing progress, results, issues, and outcomes.
- Manage application-related problems, incidents, changes, and service requests.
- Provide daily on-call support to customers for application-related issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and end users to support application integration and workflow improvements.
- Communicate software issues, requirements, upgrades, enhancements, and system changes to appropriate stakeholders.
- Coordinate implementation and project planning activities related to software application releases.
- Oversee smaller projects or assigned components of larger projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve application functionality, workflows, efficiency, and user experience.
- Support application-related troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Maintain current knowledge of supported systems, applications, workflows, and relevant technology developments.
- Apply required application certifications and specialized expertise to support assigned systems.
- Work independently with general supervision while escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Influence stakeholders within the assigned job area through clear communication of facts, policies, technical information, and recommended practices.

- Basic Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant experience with a degree, or
- 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Required experience range: 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise software applications and technology systems.
- Experience analyzing business or clinical workflows and translating requirements into application solutions.
- Experience with software upgrades, patches, testing, incident management, change management, and application support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, clinical users, and end users.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support application issues in a time-sensitive environment.
- EPIC Resolute Professional Billing certification is required, or EPIC Claims certification or EPIC Charge Router certification may be considered in lieu of Professional Billing certification.
- Ability to maintain required application certification and technical knowledge.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC Professional Billing (EPIC PB).
- Experience with EPIC Resolute Professional Billing.
- Experience with EPIC Claims.
- Experience with EPIC Charge Router.
- Familiarity with Community Connect environments.
- Experience with Single Billing Office (SBO) workflows.
- Previous experience supporting healthcare IT applications in clinical or business environments.
- Experience working with healthcare application implementations, upgrades, integrations, or optimization initiatives.
- Experience developing and executing application test plans.
- Experience supporting production healthcare systems and end users.
- Strong understanding of healthcare application workflows and revenue cycle processes.
- Experience coordinating smaller technology projects or workstreams.
- Strong understanding of application change management, incident management, and service request processes.
- Education & Certification
- Education/Experience Pathways:
- 3 years of relevant experience with a degree, or
- 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Certification/Licensure:
- EPIC Resolute Professional Billing certification required.
- EPIC Claims or EPIC Charge Router certification may be considered when Professional Billing certification is not held.
- Compensation
- The base pay range for full-time employment is $80,204.80–$133,681.60 annually.
- Additional compensation may be available depending on eligibility and applicable programs, including shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
