## About the Role
Mayo Clinic is seeking a **Senior IT Analyst / Programmer** responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining custom system software, as well as installing and maintaining purchased software and supporting hardware systems. The role supports multiple systems and complex software applications across Mayo Clinic sites.
This position combines **software development, systems analysis, project leadership, technical support, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration**. The successful candidate will work independently, evaluate technical alternatives, provide recommendations, and collaborate with departments, vendors, and technical teams across Mayo Clinic.
## Key Responsibilities
- - Design, develop, implement, and maintain custom system software.
- - Install and maintain purchased system software.
- - Configure and support hardware systems.
- - Develop proposals that consider alternatives, business cases, and institutional approvals in conjunction with senior technical staff.
- - Evaluate alternative technical approaches and present recommendations to teams and unit leadership.
- - Review applications regularly and make modifications and updates to maintain functionality and currency.
- - Maintain and support multiple systems or complex software applications and associated hardware across multiple Mayo Clinic sites.
- - Produce and maintain system requirements, designs, resource inventories, plans, and other technical documentation.
- - Provide technical and project leadership to other staff members.
- - Work independently and demonstrate initiative in completing responsibilities.
- - Collaborate across departments to gain stakeholder consensus.
- - Interface with vendor support and external technical teams during outages or degraded system performance.
- - Act as a liaison between Mayo Clinic departments and vendors to support computing systems.
- - Collaborate virtually with colleagues across Mayo Clinic Group practices.
- - Provide **24/7 on-call support** when required.
## Required Qualifications
- Either:
- - **Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience**, including 1 year of demonstrated technical experience; **or**
- - **Associate’s degree and 7 years of experience**, including 1 year of demonstrated technical experience.
- - Knowledge of effective system design principles and software development methodologies.
- - Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously.
- - Strong communication, meeting management, and organizational skills.
- - Ability to adapt communication for audiences with varying technical capabilities.
- - Project management skills.
- - Positive and objective approach to tasks and projects.
- - Demonstrated consistency and reliability in project and deliverable execution.
- - Initiative and ability to work independently.
- - Experience working in **healthcare technology**.
- - Exposure to managing both custom-developed and vendor-supplied applications.
