Inventory Analyst II
Position Overview
The Inventory Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory records, production reporting, and inventory valuation processes within a metals manufacturing environment. This position supports operational and financial objectives by auditing production data, analyzing inventory transactions, performing inventory reconciliations and roll forwards, participating in physical inventory counts, and conducting cost analysis. Working closely with Accounting, Operations, Production and Supply Chain, the role ensures inventory transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger, supports month-end close and physical inventory processes, and provides analysis to improve inventory accuracy, manufacturing cost performance, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Reconciliation
Calculate and maintain accurate inventory valuations for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
Prepare monthly inventory roll forwards and reconciliations.
Analyze inventory transactions and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
Monitor inventory accuracy and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end inventory close activities.
Purchasing and Production Data Auditing
Audit purchasing and receiving transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Audit daily production reporting data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Verify material consumption, production yields, scrap reporting, and inventory movements.
Investigate production variances and work with operations personnel to resolve issues.
Analyze manufacturing performance metrics and recommend corrective actions when needed.
Physical Inventory & Cycle Counts
Coordinate and participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
Reconcile count variances and prepare supporting documentation.
Assist in developing and maintaining inventory control procedures.
Support external and internal inventory audits.
Cost Analysis & Reporting
Perform cost analyses related to manufacturing operations, inventory, and production processes.
Analyze material usage, labor efficiencies, yield losses, and overhead absorption.
Prepare variance analyses and management reports.
Assist with annual cost updates, standard cost reviews, and inventory reserve analyses.
Provide financial and operational insights to management for decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls, reporting accuracy, and data integrity.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance inventory and costing processes.
Support data system enhancements and inventory-related process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.
Experience
2-5 years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, inventory analysis, manufacturing finance, or a related role.
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods and inventory accounting principles.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production reporting, and cost analysis.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including SQL, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
Ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
