About The Role

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly skilled Sr. HR Business Analyst to join its HR Information Management Department. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers the opportunity to work in a remote capacity within North Carolina. The role is integral to supporting and enhancing the university’s Human Resources, Benefits, and Payroll systems, primarily focusing on the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) platform. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing business needs, configuring HR systems, developing reports, and supporting system integrations to ensure seamless HR operations. This position involves close collaboration with HR managers, IT professionals, and other stakeholders to identify system improvements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions aligned with university policies and business objectives. The role also encompasses supporting system upgrades, applying patches, and developing data analytics to facilitate data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining system integrity, optimizing HR processes, and providing end-user support to ensure efficient and compliant HR service delivery across the university.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; or Master’s degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a higher education environment (preferred)
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems (preferred)
  • Proficiency in HR reporting, data analysis, and system configuration
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Experience with issue-tracking systems such as ServiceNow (preferred)
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems like Cornerstone (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document business requirements related to HR, Benefits, and Payroll systems to support system configuration and enhancements
  • Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, system testing, implementation, and post-go-live support
  • Configure and maintain PeopleSoft HCM modules, ensuring system functionality aligns with organizational needs
  • Develop and generate comprehensive reports and dashboards to facilitate HR decision-making and compliance reporting
  • Collaborate with IT and HR teams to troubleshoot system issues and implement effective solutions
  • Assist in applying system patches, updates, and customizations to enhance system performance and security
  • Support interfaces between PeopleSoft and third-party HR systems, ensuring seamless data integration
  • Provide end-user training and support to ensure effective utilization of HR systems and tools
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to optimize HR workflows and data accuracy
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures
