e&e is seeking a GIS Systems Administrator for an onsite contract opportunity in Philadelphia, PA!

We are seeking an experienced GIS Systems Administrator to plan, implement, manage, and maintain enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure. This position serves as a key link between core IT operations and spatial data technologies, ensuring GIS servers, databases, applications, and integrations are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance. The GIS Systems Administrator will support enterprise geospatial environments while developing mapping solutions, managing spatial databases, troubleshooting technical issues, and integrating GIS capabilities with other business systems.

• Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, administer, maintain, and upgrade enterprise GIS software, server components, and desktop applications.
• Plan and support GIS system architecture to ensure availability, scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Design, administer, maintain, and optimize multi-user relational geodatabases using platforms such as SQL Server or Oracle.
• Manage spatial data, database performance, backups, system configurations, and data integrity.
• Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise systems, including ERP, asset management, business intelligence, and other organizational applications.
• Establish and maintain GIS user accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Apply software updates, security patches, and system upgrades while following established IT security practices.
• Monitor GIS infrastructure and proactively identify and resolve system, application, database, and performance issues.
• Troubleshoot backend GIS system issues and provide technical support to users and internal teams.
• Develop and maintain custom GIS applications, interactive web maps, dashboards, and other geospatial solutions.
• Perform spatial analysis to support operational, planning, asset management, and business needs.
• Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on GIS applications, tools, and system functionality.
• Maintain technical documentation related to GIS architecture, configurations, integrations, procedures, and system changes.
• Collaborate with IT, database, infrastructure, application, and business teams to support enterprise GIS initiatives.

Requirements

• Strong experience administering enterprise GIS environments and supporting GIS infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading enterprise GIS software and server technologies.
• Experience administering relational and spatial databases, preferably SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Strong knowledge of geodatabases, spatial data management, database optimization, and data integrity practices.
• Experience integrating GIS platforms with enterprise applications and data sources.
• Knowledge of system security, user access management, permissions, patching, and application security practices.
• Experience developing web maps, GIS applications, and geospatial solutions.
• Strong understanding of mapping, spatial analysis, and geospatial data concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex GIS server, database, application, and integration issues.
• Understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, databases, and application environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
