Financial Planning Analyst

We're partnered with a fast-growing payments business to appoint an FP&A Analyst who will contribute to a growing Finance Function - they'll support in financial planning, commercial analysis, M&A, and management reporting.

It's a super exciting opportunity for someone to join a scaling organization, where Finance plays a pivotal role in commercial decision-making. You'll work closely with senior Finance leadership who have deep expertise scaling Finance functions within Payments business - whilst also partnering with the wider business to provide insights into business performance, transaction economics, and growth opportunities.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Building and maintaining detailed financial models covering revenue, transaction volumes, pricing, costs, headcount, cash flow and profitability
  • Supporting annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and long-range financial planning
  • Producing monthly management reporting, variance analysis and performance commentary
  • Analysing large financial and operational datasets to identify trends, risks and commercial opportunities
  • Developing reporting dashboards and automated financial reporting processes
  • Analysing payments metrics including GMV, transaction volumes, take rates, processing costs, gross margins and customer profitability
  • Partnering with Commercial, Product and Operations teams to support pricing, investment and strategic decisions
  • Conducting scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling and business-case evaluations
  • Improving the quality, accuracy and scalability of FP&A reporting
  • Preparing financial analysis and executive-level presentations for senior leadership
  • What we’re looking for
  • Approximately three to four years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, strategic finance or financial analysis
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets capability, including complex formulas, pivot tables, scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling and large-data manipulation
  • Strong financial modelling skills, with experience building integrated revenue, cost, headcount, cash flow and profitability models
  • Demonstrable experience owning or significantly contributing to budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes
  • Strong SQL capability, with the ability to extract, manipulate and analyse financial and operational data independently
  • Experience working with business intelligence and data-visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets and reconcile information across multiple systems
  • Experience automating or improving financial reporting processes
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, management reporting and key commercial performance drivers
  • Ability to translate technical financial and data analysis into clear recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and confidence working in a fast-moving environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related discipline
  • Highly desirable
  • Previous experience within payments, fintech, financial services, SaaS or another transaction-led business
  • Understanding of transaction economics, payment-processing costs, take rates, FX, chargebacks or merchant profitability
  • Experience using an FP&A platform such as Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Planful, Pigment or Vena
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle or SAP
  • Familiarity with Python, dbt or other data-analysis and automation tools
  • Experience supporting data-led commercial decisions in a high-growth or scaling environment

This role would suit an analytically minded FP&A professional who combines strong finance fundamentals with advanced modelling and data capabilities, and who wants greater ownership and commercial exposure within a growing payments business.
