📊 Financial & Operations Analyst | Fort Wayne, IN

Are you the person who looks at a messy spreadsheet and thinks, “I can fix this”?

  • If you’re analytical, curious, detail-driven, and the kind of person who doesn’t stop at identifying a problem—you figure out how to fix it, Circle Logistics wants to talk to you.
  • We’re looking for a Financial & Operations Analyst to become the numbers-and-details engine behind our rapidly growing brokerage operation.
  • This isn't a role where you'll spend your day buried in reports just to hand them off to someone else.

You'll find the problem. Figure out why it's happening. Fix it. Build a better process. And make sure it doesn't happen again.

You’ll work across Finance, Operations, Billing, Collections, Accounting, and IT, giving you exposure to the business well beyond traditional financial analysis.

  • 🚀 WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT?
  • At Circle Logistics, we're a $500M+ transportation company with 500+ employees, and we're continuing to grow.
  • That growth creates complexity—and that's where you come in.
  • You'll help leadership understand:
  • Where we're making money—and where we're not
  • Why revenue and gross profit are moving
  • Which pods and terminals are performing
  • How productive our teams are
  • Where administrative processes are breaking down
  • What can be automated or streamlined
  • How business decisions will impact profitability

You won't just report the numbers.

You'll help the business understand what they mean and what to do next.

  • 💰 FINANCIAL & PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS
  • You'll turn financial data into information leaders can actually use.
  • Analyze department costs and overhead and identify meaningful variances
  • Connect revenue, gross profit, and operating expenses to profitability
  • Build reporting by business unit, pod, and terminal
  • Analyze actual performance versus targets
  • Identify trends and explain what's driving them
  • Support budgeting and rolling forecasts
  • Help leadership understand the financial impact of business decisions
  • 📈 OPERATIONS & UNIT ECONOMICS
  • In transportation, productivity matters—and you'll help us measure it.
  • You'll build and maintain reporting around metrics such as:
  • $GP per head
  • Loads per head
  • Revenue and GP performance
  • Rep-level productivity
  • Terminal-level performance
  • Pod performance

You'll compare results against targets and across teams, identify opportunities, and package the information so Sales and Operations leaders can actually use it.

  • 🕵️ BE THE PROBLEM SOLVER
  • This is where the role gets really interesting.
  • When something isn't working across billing, collections, or back-office operations, you'll help figure out why.
  • You'll:
  • Investigate unusual or recurring issues
  • Identify root causes
  • Resolve problems from start to finish
  • Work with internal teams to develop practical solutions
  • Create processes that prevent the same problem from happening again
  • Become a go-to resource when something doesn't make sense

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious and isn't afraid to ask, “Why are we doing it this way?”

  • ⚙️ PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & SPECIAL PROJECTS
  • If you see a process that requires 14 steps when it should take 5, we want you to say something.
  • You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Identify inefficient or manual processes
  • Build and document SOPs
  • Streamline repetitive work
  • Identify automation opportunities
  • Clean up systems and data
  • Support data migrations
  • Develop new reporting
  • Improve customer onboarding workflows
  • Own special projects from concept through completion
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations, and IT
  • You'll have ownership—not a checklist.
  • 🧮 MODELING & BUSINESS SCENARIOS
  • Help leadership answer the “what if?” questions.
  • You'll support analysis around:
  • Revenue increases and decreases
  • Volume changes
  • Rate compression or expansion
  • Gross-profit impact
  • Commission plan changes
  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • Profitability stress testing
  • In other words, you'll help turn “What happens if we do this?” into an answer backed by numbers.
  • 📋 CLAIMS & REPORTING
  • You'll also own recurring claims reporting and supporting analysis, including:
  • Cargo-claims exposure
  • Recovery trends
  • Net exposure
  • Supporting detail for claims accrual estimates
  • 💻 THE TOOLS
  • You'll work with data from multiple systems, including:
  • TransportPro
  • Cargotel
  • Tai
  • QuickBooks
  • Excel

Advanced Excel is important. You should be comfortable with formulas, lookups, PivotTables, large datasets, and financial models.

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, scripting, or automation tools is a bonus—but not required.

  • 🎯 WHAT YOU BRING
  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, business operations, billing, collections, or a comparable analyst role
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of revenue, gross profit, margin, variance, and cost analysis
  • Proven ability to investigate and solve problems independently
  • Experience documenting processes and creating SOPs
  • Demonstrated project ownership and follow-through
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain financial findings to people who don't speak “finance”

Bonus Points:

  • Freight brokerage, transportation, logistics, or 3PL experience
  • TransportPro, Cargotel, or Tai experience
  • QuickBooks experience
  • EDI/customer portal experience
  • AR/collections knowledge
  • Commission or incentive-plan experience
  • Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or scripting
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA progress

Strong internships and co-ops may be considered toward the lower end of the experience range.

  • 🌟 WHY CIRCLE LOGISTICS?
  • We're not a company that started with hundreds of employees and a giant corporate machine.
  • We started with a handful of people and an entrepreneurial mindset.

More than a decade later, we've grown into a $500M+ logistics company with 500+ employees—and we're still building.

That means there's opportunity here for people who want to make an impact, take ownership, learn the business, and grow with it.

What you'll get:

  • 💰 Competitive base salary
  • 📈 On-site training & career development
  • 🚀 Fast-track opportunities for advancement
  • 🏥 Health, dental & vision insurance
  • ❤️ Life & disability insurance
  • 🎉 Paid holidays
  • 🌴 PTO after 90 days
  • 🚨 THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF…
  • You enjoy solving puzzles.
  • You don't need someone telling you what to do every five minutes.
  • You can look at a spreadsheet and spot something that doesn't look right.
  • You like asking “why?”
  • You enjoy turning chaos into a process.
  • And when you find a problem, your first thought isn't “that's not my job.”
  • It's:
  • “Let me figure this out.”

If that sounds like you, apply today and let's talk.
