  • Position: Financial Business Analyst with Large Enterprise/BRD/FRD/Agile/Jira
  • Location: Hybrid 2days a week in Montreal, Quebec or Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada
  • Visa Status: Independent Consultant (No Opt.)
  • Duration: 6+ Months (Long-Term Contract or CTH)

Required Qualification:

We need a Senior Business Analyst with recent experience supporting Very Large Enterprise projects with financial companies like Banking, Capital Markets, FIS highly preferred.

Candidates must be LOCAL to the Montreal, Halifax or Nova Scotia area and COMMUTE into the office Two TIMES A WEEK. NO RELOCATION CONSIDERED.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support enterprise-wide technology and business transformation initiatives within a large banking or capital markets organization. The successful candidate will partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, project managers, architects, and QA teams to gather and document business requirements, analyze complex processes, and deliver innovative technology solutions. Experience working in large enterprise environments is required, with banking or capital markets experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process mapping sessions.
  • Translate business needs into detailed Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Solution Architects, Developers, QA teams, and business users throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies by participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, UAT, and release planning activities.
  • Perform gap analysis, impact assessments, data analysis, and root cause analysis for new initiatives and production issues.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), develop test scenarios, support defect management, and validate business requirements.
  • Prepare executive presentations, status reports, business cases, process documentation, and project communications.
  • Facilitate communication between business and technical teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Support change management activities, implementation planning, production deployments, and post-production validation.
  • Ensure project deliverables comply with enterprise governance, risk management, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of Business Analyst experience supporting enterprise technology projects.
  • Experience working in large enterprise organizations with multiple business units and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong experience documenting business requirements, functional specifications, workflows, process maps, and user stories.
  • Experience working within Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and/or Waterfall project environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder meetings and requirements workshops.
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Excel.
  • Experience performing UAT planning, test execution, and defect tracking.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Banking, Financial Services, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets experience.
  • Knowledge of Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Trading, Payments, Treasury, Lending, Risk Management, or Regulatory initiatives.
  • Experience with capital markets products such as Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange (FX), Derivatives, or Securities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory initiatives including Dodd-Frank, Basel III, AML, KYC, or other financial industry regulations.
  • Experience working on cloud transformation, digital banking, data analytics, or enterprise modernization programs.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data analysis and validation.
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau is considered an asset.
  • CBAP, CCBA, PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile certification is an asset.
