About The Role

The Financial Analyst position is a key role within the Contracts and Finance department, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to ensure responsible stewardship of WIDA's financial resources. The successful candidate will utilize WIDA's financial planning and analysis software to provide leadership with accurate and actionable data, supporting strategic decision-making processes. As the primary contact for assigned department leadership regarding contracts and finance, the Financial Analyst will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-departmental projects, including procurement activities and invoicing. This position offers flexibility with remote work options and requires occasional travel to Madison, WI. The role demands a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial policies, and the ability to act as a trusted business partner across departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
• Experience in data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and report development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

Responsibilities

• Utilize statistical analysis, simulations, and predictive modeling to analyze financial information and develop solutions to business problems
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets
• Disseminate financial updates and results to leadership and relevant stakeholders
• Develop and implement financial processes within the department, including training, timelines, reports, and recommendations for process improvements
• Prepare detailed reports, spreadsheets, and schedules with compiled financial data
• Process general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP standards
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and complex account analysis
• Assist with procurement activities and invoicing as required
• Act as a liaison between departments and serve as a finance SME on cross-departmental projects
• Stay informed of relevant financial policies, procedures, and best practices within higher education and government environments
