Bailey Nurseries is seeking a finance professional to support business strategy through product costing, pricing analysis, operational analytics, and financial reporting. The Finance team works closely with operations and production leadership to improve margins, cash flow, efficiency, and investment decisions.

About the Role

  • Bailey Nurseries is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to serve as a strategic finance partner, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • The role will translate product costing, pricing, production, inventory, and enterprise data into actionable business insights. The Senior Financial Analyst will support operational performance, forecasting, capital investment decisions, ERP implementation, reporting automation, and process improvement.
  • This position also provides a defined opportunity for career progression toward a Finance Manager role.
  • Location: Newport, Minnesota
  • Work Arrangement: Onsite
  • Salary: $90,000–$120,000 annually
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate accurate product costing across product lines and sites.
  • Prepare unit-cost analyses and provide recommendations supporting pricing, margins, and operational decisions.
  • Apply standard costing, activity-based costing, and accrual accounting concepts.
  • Analyze production, capacity, resource utilization, inventory, shipping, and operational performance.
  • Identify trends and evaluate positive and negative impacts on business operations.
  • Partner with production, sales, inventory, and shipping leaders to develop timely financial analyses.
  • Model strategic scenarios and evaluate ROI for process improvements, assets, and capital investments.
  • Support annual budgeting and demand forecasting for future production requirements.
  • Develop management reporting and identify opportunities to automate recurring analytics.
  • Analyze production performance, costing inputs, and forecasting outlooks.
  • Lead the Finance ERP workstream and support scalable financial and operational processes.
  • Partner with IT/IS to integrate data from multiple sources and automate data extraction and reporting.
  • Evaluate pricing performance and recommend actions related to pricing, product mix, margins, and cash flow.
  • Support inventory reporting, valuation, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Translate complex financial analysis into actionable recommendations for business leaders.
  • Train stakeholders to effectively use financial data and insights.
  • Collaborate with financial analysts and cross-functional department teams.
  • Perform additional financial analyses as business needs arise.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in financial analysis, production variance analysis, and product costing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with standard costing and activity-based costing methodologies.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and financial principles.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and active-listening communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the nursery industry.
  • Previous experience with ERP implementation or configuration.
  • Experience developing automated financial reporting and analytics.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence applications in ERP, finance, or business processes.
  • Strong experience with production forecasting, inventory analysis, and capital investment evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business decisions through financial insights.
