The Financial Planning & Analysis team is seeking a data-driven Financial Planning Analyst to support the budgeting, forecasting, data visualization and reporting efforts. The Financial Planning Analyst will partner closely with the Director of FP&A and Chief Financial Officer on the creation and assembly of the annual operating, revenue, capital and headcount budgets. The role will partner closely with cross-functional teams across the various administrative departments to deliver accurate financial insights and strengthen firm-wide budget and forecast reporting capabilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Contribute to company-wide budgeting and forecasting across the various administrative departments.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of budgeting tools, models, and reporting processes (using modern analytics and planning platforms).
  • Manage and update reporting systems and master data to ensure leadership has accurate and actionable insights.
  • Lead data visualization initiatives and build centralized financial dashboards and reporting suites.
  • Partner with Finance Management leaders to identify KPIs, monitor performance, and support recurring budget reviews with sections managers and other firm leaders.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for budget stakeholders.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis, variance investigations, scenario modeling, and performance reporting as needed.
  • Lead the preparation of the modified cash basis annual operating budget, including income statement and other key performance schedules/reports to support revenue and expenses.
  • Assist in testing of systems for upgrades, conversion of data, and implementation of new financial reporting tools.
  • Provide expense analyses and reports on variances to budget and prior year(s).
  • Assist in the design, development and and implementation of the Firm’s new profitability reporting tools and future dashboards.
  • Complete special projects as requested and furnish related information and reports as needed.
  • Participate in the preparation of the periodic financial presentations, working closely with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and other firm leaders.
  • Serve as analyst back in support of primary responsibilities for other FP&A colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Analytics, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
  • 5+ Years of related financial planning and analysis experience is required.
  • Law Firm or other professional services industry experience is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office 365 suite of product; Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
  • Experience with business intelligence or planning tools preferred (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic with knowledge of accounting principles to conduct detailed analysis of general ledger accounts, income statement activity and budget preparations.

Competencies:

  • Ability to analyze accounting and financial data, identify problems, take action and suggest recommendations.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e mail, or verbally.
  • Proactive troubleshooting and follow-through skills adept at working independently, while being equally as a collaborative team player.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills including record keeping, data extraction, and system information with prior experience with SQL Analysis Services or “Cubes” usage is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and adaptability in a team and service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task while maintaining the highest standards of work quality.
  • Exhibit willingness to take initiative and applies critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
