  • About the Role
  • Pacific Life is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Senior Financial Analyst II to join its Sales Reporting and Analysis team.
  • This role combines finance, data analytics, and business strategy to support data-driven decision-making across life insurance and annuity products. The Senior Financial Analyst II will work closely with Finance, Product, Sales, Distribution, and Technology teams to transform complex datasets into actionable business insights and scalable reporting solutions.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain financial and profitability analytics for life insurance and annuity products across distribution partners.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets using Snowflake and SQL.
  • Support financial reporting, forecasting, and business analysis.
  • Design and develop scalable data models and datasets for dashboards, automation, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Partner with Product, Distribution, and Finance teams to analyze product performance, compensation structures, and sales trends.
  • Support profitability models covering revenue, expenses, and distribution partner economics.
  • Translate business questions into data-driven analyses and actionable recommendations.
  • Present analytical findings and insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline data processes.
  • Improve reporting efficiency and data quality.
  • Maintain data integrity and consistency across multiple sources and reporting outputs.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to junior team members.
  • Collaborate across functions and influence business decisions through data and financial analysis.
  • Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in finance, analytics, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience working with large datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud-based data platform.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance and/or annuity products, including product mechanics and distribution models.
  • Experience with data transformation and visualization tools such as:
  • Alteryx
  • Tableau
  • Power BI
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage responsibilities and deliver results.
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience developing financial product profitability models.
  • Experience with commission or compensation analysis.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of analytics engineering concepts.
  • Exposure to automation and AI-driven analytics.
  • Experience developing advanced reporting capabilities.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional Finance, Technology, Product, Sales, or Business initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and enhance analytical capabilities.

  • Compensation
  • Base Pay Range: $124,830–$152,570 annually
  • Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location. Eligible employees may also receive additional incentive compensation.
