About The Role

The Budget Execution Specialist will be an integral part of our financial management team, providing crucial support for federal facilities management programs. This role involves overseeing the distribution, obligation, expenditure, reconciliation, and reporting of appropriated funds, ensuring strict compliance with federal financial regulations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with program managers, budget offices, acquisition teams, and other financial stakeholders to facilitate the execution of annual budgets and related funding activities. The position demands a detail-oriented professional capable of analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and supporting strategic financial planning. The role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly impact the successful management of federal funds and program delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting federal budget execution, financial management, or related financial operations
  • Experience working with federal appropriated funds, including obligations, expenditures, and fund tracking
  • Proficiency in preparing financial reports, spreadsheets, and executive-level briefings
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal suitability determination or background investigation
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Successful completion of a federal background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, tracking, analysis, and execution of federal funding, ensuring compliance with federal regulations
  • Utilize industry and government standards (FAR, DFAR, JTR, FIRMR, DoD5000, etc.) to support contract and financial activities
  • Coordinate the processing of contract execution, purchase orders, and task orders across contracting and financial offices
  • Populate and maintain budget and financial data in executive presentations and reports
  • Track fund execution, including commitments, obligations, unobligated balances, and expenditures, providing detailed reports and analysis
  • Assist in formulating strategic financial plans, preparing cost estimates, and developing lifecycle budgets
  • Support reconciliation and closeout activities related to Undelivered Orders (UDO)
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership review and decision-making
  • Analyze budget execution data, identify potential risks, and recommend corrective actions
  • Coordinate with acquisition, finance, and program offices regarding funding actions and compliance
  • Contribute to budget formulation and execution activities throughout the fiscal year
  • Ensure adherence to federal financial management policies and procedures
