- Position Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Splicing Foreman to lead fiber optic installation and splicing crews supporting data center construction, expansion, and infrastructure projects across the United States. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and team leadership in mission-critical environments.
- This position requires a hands-on leader who can supervise field crews, ensure quality workmanship, maintain project schedules, and communicate effectively with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to support a bilingual workforce and customer base.
- Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead fiber optic technicians and splicing crews on data center projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily field activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope.
- Perform and oversee fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
- Read and interpret fiber optic splice matrices, schematics, cable schedules, and construction drawings.
- Perform fiber testing using OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and other testing equipment.
- Review test results and ensure all installations meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, customers, and general contractors to resolve field issues.
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and as-built records are completed accurately.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate field technicians while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and project materials.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Conduct daily job site safety meetings and quality inspections.
- Travel extensively to customer locations throughout the United States.
- Required Qualifications
- Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required.
- 5+ years of fiber optic splicing experience in data centers, telecommunications, or mission-critical environments.
- 2+ years of experience leading field crews or supervising fiber optic projects.
- Extensive experience with fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, fiber restoration, and termination.
- Proficiency with OTDR testing, insertion loss testing, and fiber certification.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, splice diagrams, and cable routing documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75–100%.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center environments.
- BICSI Technician, Installer, or OSP certification.
- FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with ribbon fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, and high-density fiber infrastructure.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards, including TIA/EIA and ANSI/TIA-942.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work on lifts, and perform work in active construction and data center environments.
- Ability to distinguish fiber optic cable colors and identify fiber strands accurately.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Travel Requirements
- Up to 75–100% nationwide travel.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and overtime, based on project requirements.
- Ability to travel by air and maintain a flexible travel schedule.
- Passport preferred for future international project opportunities.
