Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Finance Analyst to serve as the primary Finance business partner supporting Engineering, Research & Development (ER&D), and Indirect Expense across multiple automotive programs. This role works closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Product Finance, and Operations teams to manage budgets, forecasts, cost performance, and financial reporting throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Automotive industry experience is strongly preferred, as the role requires partnering with engineering teams supporting vehicle development programs and understanding the financial aspects of automotive product development.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Finance point of contact for Engineering, Research & Development (ER&D), and Indirect Expense across multiple vehicle programs.
  • Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Product Finance, and Operations to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Analyze actual vs. forecasted spending and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor program spending, indirect expenses, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Review and approve spending requests while ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous cost optimization initiatives.
  • Perform indirect cost analysis, ledger reviews, and financial deep dives.
  • Manage cost center mapping, reporting, and financial tracking.
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for leadership.
  • Support engineering organizations throughout the vehicle/product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (MBA required if degree is in another discipline).
  • Minimum 5 years of Finance or Accounting experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Experience supporting business unit financial planning and analysis.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, financial analysis).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred

  • Automotive industry experience is highly preferred. Candidates with experience supporting Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing, or R&D Finance within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier will be given strong preference.
  • MBA and/or CPA.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools such as OneStream, HFM, or Essbase.
  • Experience with Power BI or Qlik Sense.
  • Experience supporting engineering organizations and vehicle development programs.
  • Familiarity with automotive product development processes and engineering cost management.
