Electrical Superintendent - Data Center

Electrical Superintendent – Hyperscale Data Center | Near Chicago, Indiana

I’m partnered with a split general contractor / construction management business delivering a major hyperscale data center development in Northern Indiana, and they are looking for an Electrical Superintendent to lead field delivery across the site.

The project is a 300MW hyperscale data center campus progressing into Phase 2. This is a long-term, site-based role responsible for leading electrical installation, trade coordination, quality, safety and schedule performance.

Key details:

• Location: Near Chicago, Indiana
• Base salary: Up to $220k
• Relocation preferred but option for travel instead
• Potential for return flights home every two weeks if travel and no relocation
• Project: 300MW hyperscale data center campus / Phase 2
• Data center experience: Highly Preferred

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead daily electrical field operations across a large-scale hyperscale data center project
• Manage electrical subcontractors, foremen, crews, vendors and equipment installers onsite
• Drive installation sequencing, short-term lookaheads, manpower planning and productivity across electrical scopes
• Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, structural, civil, controls and commissioning teams
• Review drawings, installation plans, RFIs and coordination models to identify clashes, access issues and construction risks early
• Oversee installation of major critical-power infrastructure including MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway, PDUs and cabling systems
• Maintain site safety, quality and compliance standards across all electrical activities
• Support inspections, testing, energisation planning, punch-list closeout, commissioning readiness and turnover
• Resolve field issues quickly and escalate cost, schedule, labour or equipment risks to project leadership
• Provide regular progress updates against schedule, manpower, quality and installation milestones

Ideal background:

• Proven Electrical Superintendent experience delivering hyperscale or large-scale data center construction projects
• Strong field-led construction background with a GC, electrical contractor, EPC or construction-management business
• Direct experience managing electrical installation teams and subcontractors on complex critical-power projects
• Strong understanding of electrical sequencing, installation quality, site logistics, safety and trade coordination
• Hands-on experience with MV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, busway, PDUs and associated electrical infrastructure
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment with tight programme deadlines and multiple trade interfaces
• Data center construction experience is highly preferred for this role
