Position Description:

The Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Business Analyst/Administrator is the in-house owner of Allied Power's Business Central ERP environment. This role bridges IT and the business: configuring and maintaining Business Central, partnering with Finance, Operations, and other business units to translate operational needs into working ERP solutions, and serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day system administration, troubleshooting, and enhancement requests.

This is a hands-on, in-house role intended to partner closely with external consultants during active rollout and major enhancement phases, then take internal ownership of daily support and expansion.

Essential Functions:

  • ERP Administration & Configuration
  • Serve as the primary system administrator for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including user and security role management, permission sets, approval workflows, and system settings.
  • Configure and maintain core setup areas (chart of accounts, dimensions, number series, posting groups, and similar configuration tables) in line with Finance and Operations requirements.
  • Monitor system health, data integrity, and performance; troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day issues, escalating to Microsoft or an implementation partner when needed.
  • Manage Business Central environments (sandbox/production), coordinate updates and patches, and support release/change management for new features.
  • Business Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Project Controls, and other business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Business Central configuration, reports, or enhancement requests.
  • Document current and future-state business processes; identify opportunities to simplify or automate manual work using native Business Central capabilities or the Power Platform.
  • Lead or support functional testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and change management for new modules, features, and process changes.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and saved views in Business Central (and Power BI, where applicable) to support business decision-making.
  • Integrations & Data Management
  • Support and maintain integrations between Business Central and other enterprise systems (e.g., Workday HCM, banking, EDI, field operations, or other platform-company applications), working with IT and vendor resources as needed.
  • Understand the basics of how system integrations work (APIs, data flows, scheduled jobs) well enough to document requirements, triage issues, and communicate clearly with technical integration resources — deep integration development is expected to be handled jointly with IT/vendor developers, not solely by this role.
  • Support data migration, data cleansing, and master data governance activities related to Business Central, including during acquisitions or new entity onboarding.
  • Training & End-User Support
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact (tier 1/2 support) for Business Central end-user questions and issues across the Allied Power platform.
  • Develop and deliver end-user training materials, job aids, and onboarding resources for new Business Central users.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of standard ERP controls and segregation-of-duties considerations, partnering with Finance and Internal Audit as needed.
  • Governance & Documentation
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration standards, and a change log for Business Central customizations and enhancements.
  • Support vendor and license management activities related to Business Central (seats, modules, add-ons) in partnership with IT leadership.
  • Participate in IT governance processes (change management, security review) as the subject-matter expert for Business Central.

Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of Business Central modules relevant to the business (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Fixed Assets, Jobs/Projects, Purchasing, or Inventory).
  • Comfortable working directly with Finance and Operations stakeholders; able to translate between business language and system configuration.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving system issues.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including documentation and end-user training.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft 365/Power Platform ecosystem (Power BI, Power Automate, Excel) is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities across a multi-entity platform of companies.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, or supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or NAV) in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated business analyst experience: requirements gathering, process documentation, and translating business needs into system configuration or enhancement requests.
  • Experience supporting or participating in an ERP implementation, module rollout, or major upgrade preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with how system integrations work (APIs, flat-file/EDI transfers, middleware, or scheduled data jobs). This role is not expected to be a developer but should be conversant enough to partner effectively with technical integration resources.
  • Experience in an industrial, utility, energy, engineering, or project-based services environment is a plus, given Allied Power's multi-entity platform structure across nuclear and fossil power plant maintenance, engineering, and specialty services.
