From planning a camping trip to purchasing a hunting or fishing license, our solutions streamline the outdoor recreation experience. Every transaction — whether a boat registration, campground reservation, or educational event ticket—contributes to conservation efforts and enhances outdoor recreation opportunities.
Brandt has invested in business intelligence since 2018 and is now modernizing its architecture by building an enterprise data platform in Microsoft Fabric.
The Director of Data & Analytics will lead this next phase of the company's enterprise data and analytics strategy. Building on an established, high-performing team, this newly created role will provide strategic and technical leadership for the architecture, governance, and continued development of the enterprise data model, Microsoft Fabric environment, semantic layer, and business intelligence platform.
The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer and has a dotted-line relationship to the Chief Technology Officer. The Director will partner with these executive leaders and other business stakeholders to prioritize analytics initiatives and develop a data ecosystem that supports operational excellence, customer success, regulatory reporting, and strategic growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Data & Analytics Strategy
- Refine and execute Brandt’s enterprise data and analytics strategy, building on the work already underway.
- Lead the data and analytics roadmap.
- Build trusted relationships across the Senior Leadership Team, helping peers prioritize data initiatives most important to their goals.
- Maintain effective, ongoing cross-departmental communication that keeps stakeholders informed so they can prioritize data collection and data-driven decision making.
- Prepare Brandt’s data foundation to support practical AI and ML initiatives.
Business Intelligence
- Lead the team developing dashboards and self-service BI. Simplified storytelling is always the priority.
- Champion our culture of accurate, performant reporting, aligned with business priorities and adaptable as new customers are onboarded, new products are launched and companies are acquired.
Data Architecture & Governance
- Provide direction and oversight of Brandt’s enterprise data model, semantic layer, and reporting architecture.
- Partner with the Technology Department to continue evolving Microsoft Fabric as Brandt’s data warehousing and enterprise data integration architecture.
- Oversee continued development of reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines across Brandt’s key enterprise data sources.
- Partner with application owners to establish trusted, governed datasets that provide a single source of truth across the business.
- Guide practical, continuous improvements in data quality, performance, and governance throughout the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Leadership
- Lead and mentor the BI manager and the broader team of analysts and engineers.
- Collaborate across departments to translate business needs into analytics solutions.
- Stay current on relevant emerging data trends.
- Work with the CFO to manage the data department’s budget and performance goals.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Data & Analytics, including experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, semantic models, SQL, data integration and cloud data platforms.
- Prior hands-on experience to provide technical direction with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SQL, and modern cloud analytics architectures. Same with integrating enterprise data sources such as Google Analytics, proprietary transactional databases, payment platforms, and REST/API-based systems.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and internal initiative.
- Proven track record of increasing responsibility and success.
What Success Looks Like (First Six Months)
- We are in the midst of a multi-year, phased implementation of Fabric across Brandt. The first six months should yield demonstrable progress on that journey by developing a strong understanding of Brandt’s existing data environment, refining the phased Microsoft Fabric roadmap, and delivering measurable progress on the highest-priority agreed Phase 1 milestones.
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and increase their adoption of analytical solutions.
- Development and retention of a high-performing team, identifying any future gaps as the data and analytics roadmap progresses.
