Director Data Engineering

The Talent Source is partnering with a rapidly growing, Private Equity-backed organization to identify a Director of Data Engineering who can build and scale the data foundation supporting enterprise analytics, AI and continued growth through M&A.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a technically strong Data Engineering leader who enjoys building—not simply managing. You’ll own the evolution of an enterprise data platform that must integrate an expanding portfolio of ERP systems, SaaS applications and operational data sources while creating trusted, scalable data for analytics and emerging AI capabilities.

• What You'll Own
• You’ll lead the end-to-end data engineering strategy, from source system connectivity and ingestion through data modeling, quality, governance and platform reliability.
• Key priorities include:
• Architecting and scaling the enterprise data platform to support continued M&A and multi-ERP growth
• Owning enterprise data ingestion and orchestration using Matillion ETL
• Designing and evolving enterprise data models within Snowflake
• Creating a commercially focused, cross-application data layer that becomes a trusted source for enterprise reporting and analytics
• Establishing strong data quality, observability, lineage and governance
• Implementing DataOps practices including Git, CI/CD, automated testing and deployment
• Optimizing Snowflake performance and compute costs
• Partnering with Analytics, Finance, Operations and Technology leaders to ensure data is structured for Power BI, AI and downstream applications
• Building and developing the Data Engineering function as the organization continues to scale

• Data Engineering Stack
• Matillion ETL | Snowflake | SQL | Python | AWS | Microsoft Azure / Entra ID | Power BI | Snowflake Native Apps
• Experience with Snowflake-native capabilities such as Streams, Tasks, Dynamic Tables, Snowpipe, Materialized Views and Cortex AI is highly valuable.

• What We're Looking For
• We’re seeking a builder with leadership capability—someone equally comfortable designing the architecture, establishing engineering standards and getting hands-on when needed.

You’ll ideally bring:

• 8–10+ years of progressive Data Engineering experience
• 3+ years in a technical leadership, Principal or Data Engineering leadership capacity
• Hands-on production experience with Matillion ETL and Snowflake
• Advanced SQL and working Python expertise
• Strong enterprise data modeling and semantic layer experience
• Experience building reliable data pipelines, automated testing and observability
• Knowledge of data governance, MDM, RBAC, security and data lineage
• Experience building platforms that support enterprise analytics and AI use cases
• Success operating in a high-growth, M&A-intensive, PE-backed, industrial, construction or distribution environment is highly desirable
