Company Description The Center for Intellectual Property Understanding (CIPU) is an educational non-profit organization focused on raising awareness of intellectual property and its role in business, innovation, and society. CIPU develops activities, events, and content that help a range of audiences better understand the impact of patents, trademarks and copyrights.

Through research and outreach, the organization tracks public attitudes toward intellectual property and highlights how IP supports solutions, competition, and job creation. CIPU promotes responsible IP practices and seeks to make complex IP issues accessible to students, professionals, and the public.

Role Description This remote role focuses on creating infographics and data visualizations that communicate insights clearly about intellectual property and related topics. The applicant will work with CIPU’s data and research materials to design visual summaries, charts, and graphics for reports, presentations, social media, and web content. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting datasets, identifying key trends, translating findings into visual formats, and ensuring consistency with CIPU’s messaging and branding guidelines.

Collaboration is essential with team members to refine visual concepts, iterate on designs based on feedback, and support ongoing educational and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong Graphics Skills and ability to interpret research findings and identify meaningful patterns.
  • Proficiency in Data Analytics to support the creation of accurate and insightful visuals.
  • Ability to design clear, accessible infographics and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Canva).
  • Solid understanding of visual communication principles, including layout, hierarchy, typography, and color usage for data storytelling.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a concise and engaging manner.
