Data Warehouse Test Engineer

Akkodis is Data Warehouse Test Engineer for a contract role and the location Wilmington DE (3-4 days onsite).

Salary Range: $55-60/HR on W2 benefits, the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors

Summary

• We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Warehouse Test Engineer to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of enterprise data warehouse and analytical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data validation, ETL testing, SQL, and an understanding of data warehousing concepts. You will work closely with data engineers, BI teams, and business stakeholders to validate data across source systems, ETL pipelines, and reporting layers.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Validate data integrity across source systems, ETL jobs, data warehouse, and data marts
• Design, develop, and execute test cases for:
• ETL / ELT processes
• Data transformations and business rules
• Aggregations and historical data
• Perform data reconciliation and balance checks between source and target systems
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data validation
• Test incremental loads, full loads, and CDC processes
• Validate data quality dimensions: accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness
• Identify, log, and track defects, work with engineering teams for resolution
• Validate BI reports and dashboards against underlying warehouse data
• Support UAT activities and production data validations
• Contribute to test sign-off and release readiness decisions

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Python and Data Validation Automation is required.
• Strong hands-on experience with Data Warehouse Testing
• Advanced SQL skills (joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions)
• Data warehousing concepts (fact/dimension tables, star/snowflake schemas)
• ETL/ELT processes
• Experience testing on databases such as: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server (any relevant)
• Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Databricks, SSIS, Airflow)
• Experience with data validation automation is a plus (Python, PyTest, dbt tests, etc.)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and data accuracy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Exposure to Big Data technologies (Hive, Spark)
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata, and data lineage
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
