The organization operates within the data analytics and business intelligence sector, supporting the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Chief Information Officer. It addresses the challenge of consolidating and simplifying complex data streams across a large federal entity, enabling senior leadership to access comprehensive and real-time insights for strategic decision-making.
About the Opportunity:
The DATA VISUALIZATION ENGINEER plays a crucial role in advancing a consolidated business intelligence platform by developing and refining data models and visualizations. This position directly impacts how leadership understands organizational data, facilitating informed, strategic decisions through the creation of interactive dashboards and reports based on business requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Amazon QuickSight
- Translate business stakeholders' data visualization needs into actionable solutions
- Manage administrative tasks including user management, workspace configuration, data source connections, monitoring, and security governance
- Perform ETL processes on data from multiple sources to develop reports and dashboards
- Provide end-user support and training for reports and dashboards
- Create and maintain documentation including report specifications, user guides, data models, and administrative processes
Requirements:
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT discipline
- Minimum of 5 years experience with Power BI, Tableau, and/or Amazon QuickSight
- Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating databases
- Proficiency in Power BI DAX and M
- Preferred experience designing and implementing data models
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
- Experience working within Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum and/or Kanban
- Experience building data models and pipelines to support data visualization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Salary range is $130,000 to $140,000
