About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GIS & Data Specialist to join our expanding team at our Tucson, Arizona headquarters. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in GIS and data management to contribute to hydrologic projects through technical support, data production, and project deliverables. The role involves creating and managing geospatial datasets, supporting web-based mapping applications, and assisting with data analysis and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency with ESRI's ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, and possess a strong understanding of geospatial data workflows. This position is designed to be full-time with flexible scheduling options, fostering a work environment that encourages professional development and innovation.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a relevant academic degree in GIS, computer science, or a related discipline. Essential qualifications include a fundamental understanding of ESRI's ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, geodatabases, and coordinate systems. Candidates should have practical experience with data management in relational and geospatial databases and the ability to create client-facing illustrations and maps. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical for success. Additionally, the candidate should have sufficient scientific understanding related to groundwater hydrology to support project needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop report-quality maps and data visualizations in ArcGIS Pro, adhering to company style guidelines.
  • Create, manage, and update geospatial datasets, geodatabases, and relational databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Coordinate with project teams to understand GIS requirements and deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate project support.
  • Conduct geospatial data analysis to support hydrologic and water resource projects, providing insights and actionable information.
  • Support the company's custom data management system through data entry, maintenance, and quality assurance activities.
  • Assist with mobile data collection efforts using Esri field applications such as Field Maps and Survey123 to gather field data efficiently.
  • Create and maintain web-based maps and applications utilizing ArcGIS Online and customized solutions to enhance data accessibility and visualization.
  • Apply artistic judgment to select appropriate design and layout for cartographic outputs, ensuring clarity and visual appeal.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of hydrologic projects and data initiatives.
