Data Scientist (Contract, Hybrid NYC)

• We're partnering with an industry-leading client to find a Data Scientist who is passionate about applying machine learning, NLP, and generative AI to solve complex business challenges.
• In this contract opportunity, you'll collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to build intelligent search solutions, enhance content discovery, improve metadata generation, and develop production-ready AI applications that create measurable business value.

• What You'll Do
• Design, build, evaluate, and optimize machine learning models for production environments.
• Develop AI-powered search, retrieval, and content enrichment solutions.
• Build scalable data and ML pipelines, including multimodal embeddings and knowledge extraction.
• Fine-tune and evaluate NLP and transformer-based models.
• Research and implement emerging AI technologies, including LLMs and multimodal models.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative product features.
• Analyze model performance and continuously improve accuracy, scalability, and relevance.
• Communicate technical findings to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Support the full machine learning lifecycle from experimentation through deployment and monitoring.

• What We're Looking For
• Required
• 3+ years of professional experience in Data Science or Applied Machine Learning
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field
• Strong Python skills, including NumPy, Pandas, and experience working with large JSON datasets
• Experience with machine learning techniques including classification, clustering, regression, and ranking
• Hands-on experience with NLP, including:
• Named Entity Recognition (NER)
• Entity Disambiguation
• Semantic Similarity
• Embedding-Based Retrieval
• Experience with transformer models for extraction, classification, summarization, and text generation
• Experience building search and retrieval solutions using Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
• Experience working with LLMs and multimodal AI models
• Experience processing large-scale text and image datasets
• Familiarity with MLOps and deploying production machine learning solutions
• Knowledge of A/B testing, experimentation, and model evaluation metrics
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Preferred
• Master's degree in a related technical field
• Experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs
• Experience designing AI-powered search, recommendation, or content intelligence platforms
• Experience working with large-scale production datasets
• Interest in emerging AI and generative AI technologies

• Contract Position
• Hybrid schedule (multiple onsite days each week)
