Data Scientist - Remote

About the Role

A fast-growing, well-funded fintech company is looking for a Data Scientist to join its small data team. This is a hands-on, non-client-facing role focused on applying Python, SQL, statistics, and machine learning to real-world product and risk challenges.

You will work closely with engineers and analysts to investigate data, develop analytical solutions, and turn findings into useful insights. The role also involves presenting results to internal and external stakeholders, making clear communication an important part of the position.

This opportunity is suited to someone with a solid technical foundation who enjoys applying data science to practical business problems in a fast-moving fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Apply Python, SQL, and statistical techniques to product and risk-related questions.

•Use applied machine learning methods to support data-driven analysis and problem-solving.

•Work closely with engineers and analysts on data science initiatives.

•Analyze findings and communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

•Solid experience working with Python and SQL.

•Foundational knowledge of statistics, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and experimental design.

•Exposure to applied machine learning techniques and tools, such as scikit-learn.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience working in a startup or on a fast-paced team.

•Experience with statistical risk modeling.

Work Arrangement

This is a remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the United States. The client is based in New York City and would prefer someone in the New York area who can occasionally work from the office. However, candidates based elsewhere in the US are also welcome.

Salary

The salary range is $150,000–$200,000, depending on experience.
