You will work within a self-contained Big Data environment where the team manages everything from infrastructure and application development to advanced analytics. This position offers numerous opportunities for growth, collaboration, and problem-solving within a mission-driven setting. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma with over 7 years of experience coding and scripting in Python. Demonstrated knowledge of analytic tools and methodologies in applied mathematics—such as probability, statistics, formal modeling, and computational social sciences—or computer programming, including programming languages, machine learning, and scientific computing, is essential. Experience in collecting, visualizing, and presenting information accurately to non-technical stakeholders is also required. Preferred qualifications include understanding algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, and anomaly detection, as well as familiarity with relational databases like SQL and large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop. Additional skills in statistical data analysis, building MVP/data engineering pipelines, and knowledge of computer network operations, especially network defense and exploitation, are highly desirable. A current TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is mandatory for this role.

Responsibilities

The Data Scientist will be responsible for working with large, complex, and disparate data sets to extract meaningful insights. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing innovative analytical techniques to exploit data holdings, researching and reporting on various inquiries from the Sponsor, and proactively identifying areas for analysis or exploitation. The role involves applying advanced analytical methodologies to solve non-routine problems and improve existing processes. Developing custom searches and participating in threat hunting activities are integral parts of the position. The candidate will also develop advanced detection mechanisms to counter malicious actors, contribute to the creation of prototypes and MVPs for data engineering pipelines, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to communicate findings effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying security threats and developing solutions to mitigate risks in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
