About The Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Data Science, this role is pivotal in executing the analytical strategy for Evozyne’s drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for experimental design, data synthesis, and feature extraction from diverse datasets. Collaborating closely with experimental scientists, the Data Scientist will gain a deep understanding of assay design and data collection processes, enabling them to wrangle complex multi-assay datasets efficiently. They will develop decision-grade visualizations and summaries to facilitate clear communication of results to all stakeholders, from bench scientists to executive leadership. The role involves integrating the latest biological assay advancements and database infrastructure to streamline analytical workflows, ensuring high-quality data supports model training for generative AI applications. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the development of novel synthetic biomolecules and impactful therapies, working within a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment.

Qualifications

• A PhD in a relevant scientific or technical discipline with 0-2+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years working in a collaborative, cross-functional scientific environment such as academia, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry.
• Extensive experience designing and executing experiments within an experimental scientific discipline.
• Proficiency in preprocessing, analyzing, and cataloging high-throughput molecular biology or biochemistry datasets using Python.
• Familiarity with database organization and management principles.
• Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks, preferably in PyTorch or TensorFlow, is highly desirable.
• Strong programming skills, with the ability to maintain and update data processing and ingestion software infrastructure.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable reports and visualizations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, synthesize, and catalog experimental data across multiple modalities to generate meaningful insights and optimization strategies.
• Collaborate extensively with experimental scientists to understand assay objectives, ask relevant questions, and define success criteria prior to analysis.
• Develop and maintain reproducible data pipelines to process high-throughput experimental results into features suitable for deep learning model training.
• Maintain and enhance the company's data processing infrastructure, ensuring robustness and scalability.
• Create high-quality visualizations and reports that inform experimental decision-making, assay optimization, and go/no-go assessments.
• Incorporate advances in biological assay development and database infrastructure to improve analytical workflows and data quality.
• Support experimental design by providing data-driven insights to guide project directions and hypothesis testing.
