Role Description The Data Science Vice President is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading data science initiatives that inform investment decisions and portfolio value creation. This role oversees the design and execution of advanced analytical models, including predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive analytics to support deal sourcing, due diligence, and post-investment monitoring. The person in this role will manage and mentor data science and analytics professionals, set technical standards, and collaborate closely with investment teams to translate complex insights into clear recommendations. Day-to-day tasks include defining data strategy, selecting appropriate methodologies, validating models, ensuring data quality, and presenting findings to senior leadership and external stakeholders. The role also involves identifying new data sources, implementing best practices for experimentation and measurement, and driving the adoption of data science tools and frameworks across the organization.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Data Science and Statistics, with experience designing and validating complex models for investment or business decision-making.
Advanced Analytical Skills and Pattern Recognition capabilities to uncover trends, signals, and non-obvious relationships in structured and unstructured data.
Proficiency in Data Analytics, including building dashboards, metrics, and reporting frameworks that support timely and accurate insights.
Experience leading data science teams, including mentoring, performance management, and establishing standards for coding, documentation, and model governance.
Expertise in modern data science tools and languages (e.g., Python or R, SQL, machine learning libraries) and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms.
Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to align data initiatives with business and investment priorities.
Track record of applying data science in finance, investing, or related domains; prior experience in venture capital, private equity, or asset management is advantageous.
Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
