The Impact You Will Have In This Role

The Data Architect (DA) at DTCC will consult with information technology, data analytics, business/ product creation and development staff to design and implement the blueprint of a database to store information for a specific system that will support the work of the enterprise. The DA will develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying data as well as business events within the enterprise and become the subject matter expert (SME) on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the quality and interrelationship between core elements of the data repository and data products.

The DA should be able to understand how the information will be captured, retained and exploited.

Responsibilities Include

  • Reviewing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and/or User Stories (Agile methodology), translating them into viable logical and physical dimensional models in Snowflake
  • Profiling the data in the source system(s) by writing SQL statements
  • Adopting and conforming to established data modeling guidelines, standards and conventions
  • Developing mapping documents that demonstrate data lineage
  • Conducting walkthroughs of the data models with different stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Required Skills

  • 7-15 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies
  • 5-10 years of data architecture experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Erwin Data Modeler
  • Thorough knowledge of data warehousing concepts and the ability to create a dimensional design
  • Strong understanding of data modeling best practices including normalization, Kimball methodology, and semantic modeling
  • Experience managing data model evolution, including schema refactoring, column deprecation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts
  • Experience working as a member of a distributed data architecture team
  • Extensive hands-on SQL experience
  • Good understanding of the cloud technology and some of the tools used in that space
  • Demonstrated prior experience designing and deploying data models to Snowflake
  • Effective communication and customer relationship management skills
  • Effective data analysis and profiling skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry

Desired Skills

  • Good understanding of the concepts in the financial industry, especially in post-trade clearing and settlement
  • Experience with any data profiling/data discovery/data quality tool

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Computer Science or Information Systems)
  • Data management and data architecture related certifications (i.e. TOGAF) is a plus
